What would you buy? You dont have to spend it all. It is a toy car for maybe 2 to 4k miles a year. Maintenenance cost need to be bearable ( ie less than 5k pa). It has to be special though obviously less so the less you spend

How practical does it need to be? Intended use? E.g weekends away with the Mrs/mistress, track days, or just general posing?
Able to do a two week tour of Spain two up. No track days

Chevy Corvette and a huge hunk of change?
No. "Has to be special" ie classy, which rules out anything American.

Right folks - the game has moved on. I might be a bit bored with my current Lotus but I have never fallen out of love with the way it drives and the feel on the road. Well Friday I tested a 430 and I have finally found in it a bigger better Elise. Yes I know its bigger and faster and prettier and more expensive but the important bit to me is that it felt in many ways like a very similar car to drive. The 911 never felt like that at all. Indeed it never really felt "special".

So the question now comes down to 355 or 360 or 430 - what are the differences, the pro and con of each. I might be able to afford a Ferrari but I dont want to see silly amounts of money disappearing down the drain so which of these is likely to be the least expensive everything included. I am likely to keep the car for 5 or 6 years going maybe 3/4k pa. I can do the spec research on line so what I'm hoping for is some owner advice from posters who have owned two or three of the possibles I list.

Looking through the 430 listings I was surprised to see a few manual cars much cheaper than the flappy paddle ones. Surprised because most enthusiasts seem to prefer manual gearboxes. Is this not the case with Ferrari?

Why do I not see any private for sale ads? Am I looking in the wrong places? Would you buy such an expensive car privately?

No doubt I will post this post and immediately think of a dozen more questions ................
