Having car detailed in a week, am currently debating whether or not to ask the guy to refit the front plate or not. It's a 5 character reg and is already trimmed down.

Car (Ferrari 458) looks better without it in my opinion as there is no appreciable recess for it, but am conscious about how it might be perceived by both the Police and general public (I know I probably shouldn't care, but wondering whether it could be seen as negative "this guy thinks its one rule for him and another for the rest of us" thing)

So, thought I'd throw it out there to get some apocryphal experiences and consensus smile Thanks in advance!

I know this isn't necessarily applicable to you but I'm not sure if it's worth the risk of having the car vandalised if you stumble across a Jeremy Kyle'r who thinks you're trying to be above the law.
Yeah, this is my main concern to be honest, moreso than Police attention.

Think on balance it's probably best just to keep it on there, one less thing to have to ponder.

This thread escalated quickly. boxedin

KFC's attitude is the exactly sort of thing I'd be fearful of and want to avoid - i.e. someone who thinks it's fair game to key a car because of a belief that the owner feels they're "special". I am already OCD enough about the car as it is that I worry about parking it far away from anyone where possible, etc.

I do think it looks better without it, and I do also think that certain cars - usually supercars - are somewhat unique in aesthetics that numberplates tend to look out of place on them. Different strokes for different folks though.

(As an aside I think the whole "supercar owners getting away with accidents!" thing is a bit overblown. Firstly I'm only talking about not having a front plate, usually the rear has a recess on most supercars, and secondly I think the actual incidences of supercar owners avoiding liability for accidents is vanishingly small)

Anyone got any recommendations for places that'll do trimmed down 3/4 size/motorcycle font front plates?

design the plate with the font / size required. I have used them several times, and standard delivery is very quick (2 days in my experience)

my front plate is 13" x 4.4" with motorcycle font. No doubt highly illegal, but less chance of getting stopped than for having no plate.
Thanks. Link doesn't work as supplied, but found the website. Already have a 13x4.4" front plate, albeit with the full size font.
