Maserati GT .. should I?
Discussion
Test drove an MC auto. Not as quick as my M5 but the sense of occasion was incredible and the noise. Been offered their demonstrator which they have just got .. only 60 miles on the clock. List with the options is 97K and they offered it me at £80K which is 17% off list. Tempted but also like the idea of ordering to my spec and going to Italy to collect. Intend to do 10k a year and keep for 2 years and move on. What kind of depreciation do you think I can expect? is this a good deal and am I right to go auto route?
Thank you all for your time in replying and some really good points. I will be doing it however the only question is MC shift or MC Auto. Really stuck on this one. The deal I have is with an auto and they don't have a demonstrator MC shift. May have to wait and find a dealer with an MC shift when I'm out and about.

I have a 2011 auto 4.7 and love it. Personally I think that the MC automated clutch is a very active gearbox in the wrong car, fine in a balls out mid engined screamer but not in a GT. That is borne out in sales in the last 3/4 years which are now largely auto.
You have been able to get £8-10k off a factory order GranTurismo for a long time and, of course, a factory order might have a lower spec than the demo car which would close the price gap too. Is that deal for a car that is already registered? You also need to look at warranty start date as it might have been a few months ago even if the car is unregistered.
It all depends what colour options you want as, for me, I enjoyed choosing all the various paint, leather, stitching, dash, carpets, headliner etc etc.
As for price a three year old one on 30k miles trades in the low fifties.
They offered £85K on the same specified car (list £97K) as the demo at £80K. The demo is registered only a month ago with 60+ miles on. Its black inside and out with red stitching and logo, red calipers and anthracite neptunes .. looks very goodYou have been able to get £8-10k off a factory order GranTurismo for a long time and, of course, a factory order might have a lower spec than the demo car which would close the price gap too. I bought a new MC Auto Shift April 2014 Its just awesome, it just does everything.
I drove both MC Shift and Autoshift, Yes the MC shift was Amazing when on full chat but when in town etc it became more uncomfortable.
With the newer MC Autoshifts this suited what I was after perfectly all the fun of the MC but with a smoother round town experience.
I understand how the MC shift works but whats the advantage .. quicker shifts I assume? my M5 is amazingly quick on full sports settingI drove both MC Shift and Autoshift, Yes the MC shift was Amazing when on full chat but when in town etc it became more uncomfortable.

So they are offering you £12k off a factory order. I guess first thing you need to do is spec your own car and take £12k off and see how close to £80k you get. For me black on black as very tedious but it's not for me...
That's the idea .. not sure what my perfect colour combo is, quite like the idea of black exterior with tan interiorMurph7355 said:
Good, aren't they In the dry even sharper, and whilst the auto is good for an auto, it's not as good as the MC Shift IMO.
Very good indeed .. decided on one and the fact that I want an MC shift. Noticed there is a 4 seater stradale in Romans which looks very appealing. I like the idea of getting a top of the range model but actually prefer the lines of the S. Murph7355 said:
Saw that one too and it looks good value (or did - has the price just jumped 7k? Edited to add...it must have ben the black one I was thinking of at sub-90k...)...but white...hmmmm.
And like you, I think the std car looks better - though I prefer the Sport. The sides and rear of the MC look clumsy to my eyes.
Sport v S....Have thought about this a lot. Some S's look great. Especially, IMO, with the carbon pack. But I didn't think the seats were as comfy, and the engine lacks 20bhp. Other detail differences are pushing me to a Sport. Which is a pisser as there are very few MC Shift Sports around.
By S do you mean stradale? It was the one in Romans at 90k. I think for me its got to be an MC shift sport. Not sure on colour. Apparently silver is a no no, white I'm not sure, sometimes looks good but never had a white car, red looks good but its a bit Ferrari?! and not understated as a Maserati may be should be, black is very common, I think I like the blue. Decisions decisions. And like you, I think the std car looks better - though I prefer the Sport. The sides and rear of the MC look clumsy to my eyes.
