Guys I currently have an M5 and a Range Rover L322 which is my daily, the M5 my weekend toy.

Been watching R8's recently and they seem to be coming down ever so slightly in price, I would love something more exotic.

This particular one looks nice but with high mileage, the guys have offered me a handsome sum for my M5 but would I be utterly bonkers to even consider this?

How well will this thing hold its value?? Over the course of a few years

The ones at 40k are just slightly out my budget Steve I've been offered a good PX on my M5 actually more than I paid for it! Towards this and they have approved me for a bit of finance it seems like a good opportunity

I get that my heart is ruling my head at the min but this is the biggest purchase I'd make. What sort of value is the car compared to what they are selling it for?

I am running an M5 this car generated a 6k bill just before I bought it ALL these cars have the option to destroy you if it's any solace this car would never be used as a daily and it's use kept low and I guess this car has a new gearbox and clutch so two less things to go wrong? Engines seem pretty solid on these

Resale value is not a massive concern I appreciate I will lose money on it just wanted to gauge an idea this is a new arena for me after only having a Maserati 4200 which is the closest thing to a super car in the past!

Went to see it....

Car checks out, the guys run a tuning company and as soon as I pulled up there was a big line up of supercars. Gallardo's GTR's the works.

The guys pulled it into their workshop for me and showed me around the car. guys, the car looks even better than the photos. They even got it up in the air and I had a good poke round everywhere. I felt confident.

As we got chatting he said he had loads of interest in the car but most people that rang up moaned about the mileage he said how one guy with a GT3 rep bugged him for days about a trade in but that wasn't for them.

Anyway long story short the car drove great, I think most people have probably been put off the ad with the high mileage and maybe the gearbox work? I ran a full check on the car and all checked out fine. I decided to put a deposit on the car and will pick it up on Monday.

Words can't describe the feeling but I don't think I'll sleep for days.

Not related as far as I know, they are running a separate car sales business to their tuning business however the car was at their garage tonight so least I could get it on some ramps

I think that was a good decision. You have some parts as well that are new, so don't have to worry too much about those either.

The money you save goes into your insurance piggybank for mechanicals. There is also good cred for having a really high mileage supercar.

As Mr Trotter says, "who dares wins". Are you selling the M5 then? I'd be more worried about the M5 if it was the V10 version with the gearbox going ....

PS And it looks better than the newer one which looks too much like a TT now. I think that shape R8 will age gracefully.
Thank you, I got a very good PX price towards the car so that's where the M5 has gone. I also drive a RR daily but I may be selling that..if I can bring myself to selling it (love that car)

I agree about the parts and they are warrantied by Audi, the M5 had just the same ability to drop even bigger bills and that was at 94,000. I'm confident this car will be fantastic I have owned many performance cars now.

roflroflrofl I am sorry OP. I read the first page of this thread; made my comments and then stupidl
y read the other pages seeing you had bought the thing!
I didn't want to piss on your parade however someone quoted me on it !

sorry and enjoy the car! Everyones different in what they would pay. enjoy the car!

R8Steve I was clearly not fast enough for your little ninja hands! lol
I think they were asking a fair price the condition of the car was unbelievable so I kinda bought on that...

Also the guys gave me a VERY fair price for my car 2k over what any other garage offered plus they have been great to deal with and just enthusiasts themselves which is comforting in its own right

Agreed, Tom's enthusiasm on this thread has been very infectious. He's got what he dreamed of, all power to him.
Many thanks this is a dream I've lost sleep over many many nights. I never thought I'd be in the position to do something like that every car I've had and moved on has been a stepping stone closer, every sacrifice I've made in my personal life has led to this point it's hard not to get upset with comments like that but this is the Internet at the end of the day!!
