I know that this isn't the 'McLaren' section, but it's almost certainly the most relevant!

On Saturday I had a ride in this car and photographed it. It's been my dream car for as long as I can remember and it was as good as I dreamed biggrin

Can I ask a quick question as I have never actually seen the car in the flesh, is it red or pink??
It's fluorescent pink. And incredibly hard to photograph!

Tell us what it was like to get a run in it.
Getting in is quite bizarre as you sit behind the driver. Strapping in is like in any other sports car, proper harness.
There's an intercom so that you don't go deaf and so that you can talk to the driver.

When on the move, the car is VERY loud, but it's not engine noise, it's noise from the straight cut gearbox. The ride is very hard as you'd expect for a racing car and on some of the crappy roads of Sussex it was very noticeable. The steering is very direct and it turned it very easily. Then you get onto the power. wow. The owner didn't really give it that much as obviously we were on public roads and there's no point taking risks on getting caught. The traffic was awful too frown He did go up a few gears though and it was a tremendous feeling.

The other interesting thing is the looks on other road users faces as you pass them. Some are thinking 'what the hell is that', but if they know they will be going 'oh my god' or something to that extent! Every single person has to double take though!

How about a picture of me sitting inside the car?

Or my rig attached to the car?

Or even me driving the 911 with the McLaren following me?

Thanks for posting your pics. Is it still a three seater or is one side now occupied with that console full of switches? Also, what do all those switches do?

thanks
2 and a half seats smile

I don't have a clue what the switches do... they did look very cool though!

Have you zoomed in on your original hi res photo to see what the text is above each switch?

thanks
It's pretty hard to make out the labels, but a few of the switches are:
Start
screen heat
Lights
Rain light
Wiper
Horn
Side/24hrs
Headlamp stuff
Display
Fire system (see, Ferrari could learn a thing or two from McLaren hehe)

Bloody hell George, you're brave!

If i was driving someone else's 911 with a >£2m F1 following me i wouldn't have been taking pictures in the rear view mirror with my phone!

hehe
I wasn't to worried about taking the photo as I wasn't moving at the time wink
