Caring with Cars 2014 - Sunday May 18th - 400 VEHICLES SO FAR!

Website:
www.caringwithcars.com

With two successful events in 2011 and 2012 under our belts, we are again happy to announce that Caring with Cars will be returning to the picturesque Downs School in May 2014. Once again we are raising funds for the adjacent Children's Hospice South West. The event is primarily for YOU - PH members - and selected other enthusiasts, with attendance through simple registration.

A Great Day Out
Those who have attended in the past know that the event is a relaxed day with free entry and a host of attractions. Many visitors mention that CWC is their favourite event in the south west and we try hard to keep it entertaining and friendly, as well as inclusive whether you drive an old Polo or a Zonda.

PLEASE NOTE: No dogs are allowed at this event.

Sponsors
We are joined this time by not one but THREE sponsors, each of whom will be at the event with interesting vehicles on display. In the past, Bath Audi have brought the first UK registered Audi R8 GT and just-released RS3.

These are:
  • Bath Audi - Website
  • Fine and Classic of Thornbury, purveyors of top-line classic cars - Website
  • Mercedes of Weston Super Mare - Website

Sponsor Vehicles
  • Bath Audi: R8 GT Spyder (the most expensive ever supplied), R8 Spyder
  • Fine and Classic: Superblower AC Cobra, Triumph Stag
  • Mercedes of Weston Super Mare: SL350, E63 AMG saloon, ML63 AMG and the new GLA

What's On
The highlights in 2014 include:

Guest Speakers
  • Mike Cooper, extremely experienced road and race coach, will be giving a talk with Q&A - guaranteed it'll be informative and perhaps even controversial
  • Gail Hill, chairman of the British Women Racing Driver's Club, will be speaking about her racing exploits and the work of the club
  • Armed Forces Rally Team

Who is coming? 400 on the list so far!
  • Armed Forces Rally Team
  • Freddy's Revenge - Altered Fuel drag car
  • Speedway Grasstrack bikes
  • 1935 Le Mans Frazer Nash
  • Concours road-going Ford RS200
  • Lotus 11 racing car
  • 3 x Ferrari 458
  • Possible Ferrari F12
  • Lamborghini Murcielago, Gallardo, Jalpa, Aventador
  • Shelby Cobra Daytona
  • New Morgan 3 wheeler
  • Rolls Royce Ghost
  • Hot rods
  • Ultima GTRs
  • Supercharged Audi R8
  • 600hp Lotus Exige
  • Marcos LM600
  • Ariel Atoms
  • many more - check out the list here

Raffle Prizes
See all prizes here: CWC Raffle Prize List

Many thanks to all those who have donated a prize to our raffle!

Registration
While logged in to your Pistonheads account, go to the bottom of the calendar page and click Add/Remove yourself from the list.

http://www.pistonheads.com/calendar/event.asp?i=34...

BUT PLEASE ALSO

Please subscribe to the newsletter!
Pistonheads is great but, as organisers, we have no access to any of your email addresses. This makes it very difficult to keep in contact with busy people. Many members forget about events after initially registering because there is no reminder system. In 2012 we think about 150 vehicles didn't turn up from the 500 registered.

This:
  • removes spaces for others who do wish to come
  • means we do not raise as much money for the Children's Hospice
Therefore, we encourage everyone to fill out the form on the website to receive newsletters about new raffle prizes, attractions, etc as when details emerge. We won't spam you, or use your details for other purposes.

Subscribe to the newsletter here

Helping CWC
We need your help to get the word out to other PH members and enthusiasts who could attend CWC next May. We are particularly interested in special vehicles and attractions that would be of interest to the PH demographic, such as race and rally cars, experts who could give a talk, unusual exhibits, etc.

Volunteering
We are not paid to organise CWC, and value any help we get before and on the day. The event can't happen without others mucking in to marshal parking, take donations, man the raffle table, setting up signs, installing ground protection, etc. If you would like to help out with the event, please get in touch with me.

Please bookmark this thread as we will add details as and when they are available.

Note to mods: Garlick has okayed this post and charity event

Hi everyone.

It seems to be taking a while to get the calendar entry up on PH. I've notified the bods up top a couple of times, but I guess there's a backlog after Christmas.

When the calendar comes on-stream, you'll need to pop by and add yourself on there to register properly for the event. We can't do this for you as it is linked to your account.

Please sign up to the newsletter
In the meantime, we would VERY much appreciate if you can stop by the registration page on the website and fill out the form. We'll send out irregular news bulletins - new raffle prizes, interesting cars, etc.

http://www.caringwithcars.com/register.asp

Why?
Organising this event through PH has its benefits, but one downside is that we have NO access to any contact details so we can't keep in touch up 'til the event. In 2012 many people registered and then didn't turn up. In the past, a huge amount of time has gone into getting email addresses by sending messages through profiles, but it is hit and miss at best.

We are testing the water this year by running a database alongside the PH calendar to hopefully keep in touch better, with a view next year to have registration just on the website. Therefore, if you could give us your email address it would help us inform you of news much easier, as well as hopefully increasing the number who make it on the day. We won't spam or doing anything nefarious with the info.

We need prizes of all sizes to draw more people in and to raise much-needed funds for this great charity.

FACE PAINTING AT CWC

We all like to go home looking like a tiger, or maybe a butterfly. Admit it, people! biggrin

A talented local facepainter called Suzanna has agreed to come along to the show and keep the kids happy with some bespoke facial art.

And, what's more, she's agreed to donate all her proceeds to the Children's Hospice!

All she is asking in return is to take a few pictures for her website, which can be found here:
