PistonFest returns

Music, camping and cars across an August weekend. Fancy joining in? Tell us now!

Back in 2007 we held the last ever PistonFest camping event. It was very wet, rather windy and based in the depths of Norfolk. Memorable for good and bad reasons, and those in attendance will know why Green Day's American Idiot will always be associated with that weekend... We've let the event rest for a while now, every year contemplating its return but never quite making it happen. 2014 will see that change as PH aims for a big PistonFest comeback.

Many of you won't know what PistonFest is, but you can probably guess. We hire a large patch of grass, get the bar sorted as a priority, hire some bands, lay on some activities and all relax with friends eating, drinking and enjoying themselves. Previously we have been alongside motorsport events but it became apparent many people were content entertaining themselves during the day and then at the bar in the evening. We'll probably stick to that format this year.

Here is the plan so far, it's not set in stone as yet so thoughts and comments are welcome and encouraged. Of course though, we can't guarantee to please everyone.

  • Suggested venue is the Herts. County Showground in Hertfordshire.
  • Suggested date is 30-31 August.
  • Site will open Saturday AM and close Sunday PM.
  • PH and 1st-Tickets (Le Mans superstars) will provide toilets, showers, marquee, bar and bands. Caterers will be called in to sell food.
  • We will lay on site security and lighting.
  • R/C model car racing.
  • Drive in movies.
  • Best car of the weekend awards.
  • Motorsport driver talks in the marquee.
  • Hands on challenges like pit stop wheel change competitions.
  • Kart racing at a local venue.
  • Sunday Service.
  • Ticket price to be approximately £50 per person some beer and breakfast included. 'Some' being the operative word there, we're not covering every drink!

The Sunday Service will be open to all, campers will just have the advantage of already being there so no excuses for tardiness.

We encourage PHers who are in a band to put themselves forward for playing at the event; if that proves unsuccessful we'll hire in.

So what do you think? We're convinced that the weekend will be a success but won't forge ahead until we are sure there is interest from the PH collective.

If you want to register interest either comment on this forum or reserve a space by emailing info@1st-tickets.co.uk with PistonFest as the subject line. We'll keep you updated as the event develops.
