Hi all,

Dad and I are members of Sporting Bears and have been invited to drive on track at the above event.

However we have a couple of questions as this will be our first time going:

1. What track cover do people buy? Obviously normal road insurance isn't applicable. Do you need Public Liability Insurance for carrying passengers?

2. How much track time do you actually get? With 340 cars on offer, we're a bit hesitant about paying out for insruance and fuel getting there, then doing nothing at all! Can anyone explain how the event is run?

Many thanks!

Phil

Interesting. Thanks for the feedback all smile

I assume people just go and line up at a gate that's free, then pay for a ride? Having looked at videos of previous events I've noticed where the 'Bears' are parked, then other clubs/groups, all with their own gazebo/tents.

Anyone got any pointers in terms of what insurance is needed/ who can provide it?

We've had the info about where and when from one of the leaders in Sporting Bears smile

We'll be setting off at about 6am going across town - it's a two and a half hour journey for us.

thumbup That's great to hear! We had a blast on track, certainly look forward to next year wink

I saw a number of photographers around the track, anyone know who they are/where the photos will be?

We raised £1080 for gate 11, despite a high rate of attrition on the cars!

I've found this set of pics on Facebook (public) - https://www.facebook.com/mark.woodhouse.125/media_...
And this set from the GTROC - http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?threa...

There was also this guy who I spoke to, but no galleries from the day have appeared on his site yet. - http://onesnap.co.uk/oneSnap/Welcome.html
Thanks very much, I'll keep an eye out on those biggrin

Can't remember who it was, but a marshall in a PH shirt came over to my Father and I during the afternoon asking if we could spare some cars from our stand (R4H/Sporting Bears) - not long after though they seemed to be pretty full again biggrin

Looking forward to hopefully seeing some pics of the Boxster in action - The reactions of the public made all worth while going - Especially when we told them how fast we were going, and the kids loved getting to start and rev up the car biggrin

Ah, that was you?! I was drooling a fair bit too when I saw it, my Dream Lambo - I wish I was able to get a ride in that biggrin

IIRC you did quite a few rides, how did it hold up?

I did a few laps but didn't want to push my luck due to her advancing years. She held up really well. I just really wanted to get a feel what she was really like when pushed and I was very suprised how well she went and handled. My only worry was a little steam comming from the engine bay but upon investigation was only a little escaped coolant from the expansion tank escape hose - big relief!

I remember seeing that - Thank God it isn't anything too serious biggrin
