Wales Rally GB Sunday Service

Yep, PH has a meet tagging along with Rally GB. Full details here!

This November will play host to one of our largest and most dramatic Sunday Services ever as PistonHeads has partnered with both Wales Rally GB and Conwy County Borough Council to offer our members a unique introduction to the world of rallying.

Dating back to its humble beginnings in 1932, when it was originally referred to as the RAC Rally, the fast, tight forest stages of Wales Rally GB are now an integral part of the WRC circuit. Many of the world's greatest drivers have taken victory over the four-day event, including Colin McRae and Richard Burns, who both won three times.

From November 12-15, the Welsh countryside will be turned onto one of the most gruelling and technically demanding stages in the WRC. Starting from Llandudno, the rally will include 19 competitive stages, two of which are night time runs, before finishing at the service park at Deeside on the Sunday afternoon.

PistonHeads has been offered exclusive access for 300 members to park on the promenade in Llandudno for our Sunday Service on November 15. We have private use of the Menai Suite at St. George's Hotel for our obligatory, reasonably priced, and some might say medicinal, bacon sandwich and hot drink upon arrival.

During the morning there will be a Q&A session with a rally legend (that will remain a surprise just for now) and we'll be showing exclusive footage from Friday's stages in the Suite. All this just a stone's throw from the town centre where the official rally re-group will take place from 1030h on Sunday with live footage of the rally being shown on large screens.

Also in attendance, fresh from their high speed demo runs on the Great Orme stage, will be the members of Slowly Sideways, who will be joining us for the morning talking about their passion for the sport and the cars.

We know that attending this event may require some pre-planning and organising for those of you travelling some distance, so we have a couple of links to make this easier: see here to view and book accommodation in the area and here to download our beginners guide to rallying.

Furthermore, if you wish to include the Sunday Service as part of a full Wales Rally GB weekend, tickets are still available. See the website for more details.

We will also be selling T-shirts, mugs and stickers at this Sunday Service. It's cash only, so come prepared with some extra pennies to grab yourself some merchandise! As the event is raising money for the Wales Air Ambulance so any donations you can provide during the day would be greatly appreciated too.

Add your name to the calendar here.

For those of you wanting to avoid a super-early start for the trip Oop-North, some of the PH team will be staying locally on the Saturday night - it would be great to meet some of you for a drink or two if any one fancies it? Details for this will follow in due course, but it will be in Llandudno and will be very informal.

Hope to see lot of you there (on the Saturday and Sunday!)

Sounds like you need to do some cancelling then!

idea Would you like PH to write you a letter explaining why you can no longer be at the "other things"? hehe

I must say the omens do not look good for this SS. I hope i'm wrong, but with only 127 signed up so far (minus the usual 30 odd % who don't turn up anyway to SS after signing up) it could be a low turnout.
Not at all - 300 is a lot of people to take to North Wales, but as they offered us the space we took all of it. I'm pretty sure that people are just being more considered before putting their names down as it is a long way and we'll find that it has a better turn out that normal as no one will think "Ohh, I might pop along"

Equally, even with "only" 100+ people we'll have a great time and there will be a load of cool stuff going on that we'll be in the thick of.

To summarise... it'll be great so please stay positive!

Quick question....If your name is on list does this guarantee a "pistonhead place" parking on the prom ? Any passes involved ?
Yep, it certainly does! Passes will be sent out on the Wednesday before the event.

According to our count there were 62 cars. We're disappointed too, but only because so many people missed out! Those who attended enjoyed themselves so much - which in our book still means it was a great success.

We think the bad weather can probably be held accountable for a fair chunk of drop outs, but that's par for the course in North Wales at this time of year.

Anyway, we'll be announcing the next SS in the coming days and we're back to a very popular venue so it is business as usual.
