SUNDAY 22 MARCH 2009 - VIRGINIA WATER CAR PARK MEET

( Crown Estate next to the Wheatsheaf PH )

I have spoken to the operations manager at the park about this, and he is more than happy to accomodate the meet again for 2009.

This is mainly down to the success of last years event and the good reputation upheld by those who attended. The park authority are a good bunch and realise that we are car enthusiasts who want to have fun, however they also respect the fact that we depart in an orderly fashion without leaving set's of 11's all over the tarmac It seems that the VW is a pretty well established date in the PH calender, so it makes sense to continue the good relationship between us and the park authority.

The park will also have an obligation to notify the local authority as was the case last year. Please be aware that is is your responsibilty to ensure you are legal

The car park opens at 0730 on a Sunday. The park will be laying on 2 catering vans as was the case last year. A section of the park will be dedicated to this meet. All marques welcome, please add your name to the list.

The list will is now FULL and all further requests are being queued in a RESERVE LIST. There will be room for more but I do not know how many until I have liased with the park. Reservee's will be permitted in order of receipt of request.


PLEASE BE AWARE THAT MARSHALL'S WILL BE CONTROLLING THE BARRIERS AND WILL BE CONTROLLING ACCESS BASED ON NUMBERS. BY JUST TURNING UP UNANNOUNCED YOU WILL BE DENYING SOMEBODY ON THE LIST THEIR SPACE. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY OF MANAGING THIS EVENT SO PLEASE RESPECT THE WAY IN WHICH IT HAS BEEN ORGANISED AND STICK TO THE NUMBERS POSTED

To be honest either suit me. Given the option I would say April as it will be that bit warmer / sunnier. However it should fall to the majority vote. I know Le Mans is later in the year but is there anything else major planned for either month that would detract from numbers?

Ah, yes there are alot of PHers committed on the weekend of the 19th April with the Milau Bridge Tour and other related events, so therefore the date will be changed.

Mikerob unfortunatley there are a large number of PHers committed that weekend on a seperate event, so I am looking at either end of March or beginning of May.

Excellent. I think it is important to set a definate date now so people can plan for the day. Of course despite best intentions, there will always be some who cannot make a certain date e.t.c

Sinclair, I agree it maybe not the perfect date but when is? You know what it's like, any date suggested will be no good for a segment of the PH population. The reason I chose this weekend was to fit it in around Easter Sunday and other various events including the Marathon that are scheduled in and around April.

As I said, whatever weekend is chosen will always be inconvenient for someone. I had not realised that I had chosen mothering sunday when I selected the 22nd, but, I personally can't see it being that much of an issue as it is a morning meet and people can stay as long or as little as they like. Having changed the date once already due to the Milau trip I didn't want to keep changing it, so I stuck with it. I have also had to factor in my work pattern, and the only weekends I can do are the 22nd March, Easter and the 19th April... Hope that explains some logic behind the date.

The list is looking good so far so I am going to stand by my guns on the date. I hope you can make it TC, I am trying my best to accomodate everyone with this but it's impossible to please everyone

The cap has been set at 120 to allow for an extra "60 or so". Hence why if the number gets to 120 I will need to liase with them to see what number they feel comfortable is. 200 has been suggested as a maximum but there may be room for negotiation depending on the numbers.

From past experience, and subtracting those on the list who will pull out at the last minute, I would only expect an extra 25 to 30 cars at maximum from the list.

Ultimatley it is an open public car-park in any case, so theoretically the number is capped by how many spaces they are, but courtesy dictates
