Rover Diagnostic software, Testbook T4?
Discussion
I've a 1999 Rover 1.8 VVC'ed engined car and I'm interested to know what home diagnostic software you can get to read it's error, fault codes, what the ECU see's.
I'm thinking of moving to Oz in a few years and hopefully taking the car, so cost dependant, I thought it might be something useful to have for now and the future, not sure how much of Rover cars got over to Oz.
So I've the Rover diagnostic port under the dash ready and waiting.
I've heard of Testbook T4 software. Is it as simple as getting the software, installing onto a laptop and then getting a cable to go from the Laptop to the diagnostic plug? My initial findings show that this might be a cheaper route than buying a handheld unit, as this way I've already the expensive of the computer aspect as it were.
Not sure if this is the only software, just one that I've found on my searches relating to Rover diagnostics.
I've heard of a few Bluetooth car diagnostic plugs that can then talk to a tablet (Torque android app)/ PC via Bluetooth which is another option. I looked this up but I'm not 100% sure what port (?) my car has.
BlueTooth ELM327 Car Scan Tool ODB Fault Scan Tool
Car Wireless Bluetooth OBD2 ODB-II Scan Tool Checker Detection ScanMaster
To name but two, but how do I know if my car is compatible with OBD2.
