Hi
My 03 honda hr-v 1.6 petrol has been in for an mot. It failed on emissions and he said the cat needs replacing.
The car burns through a fair amount of oil as I think the rings are jammed or worn.
My question is will the car still fail an mot if I replace the cat. It's around 100 pounds for a new cat and if I can get another year out of it that's great. Or will replacing the cat have little to do with emmisions as it's burning oil.
Thanks.

Hi.
Thanks for that. I spoke to the mechanic again and we looked at the emissions sheet. He said the lambda figures were spot on. He said the only problem was the cat so I'm really hoping he's right as its 120 quid.

Will let you know how I get on.
