Zetec engine identification
Discussion
Hi all,
I've just bought a mk3 Fiesta fitted with a 2 litre Zetec, and I was wondering if someone could help me identify whether it is a silver top or black top engine, and which phase it might be? I've searched a lot and found some conflicting information. I know it is a 2.0 as '20' is stamped into the block, and the engine code starts with NGA (I can't read the rest of the numbers):
The engine number - which I can't make out!
The reason I'd like to know is that the water pump needs replacement and I was wondering if it will be possible without removing the timing belt? I haven't got around to taking the timing belt cover off yet as you can see from the pictures. From what I can see the water pump is driven off a triangular belt between the crank pulley, alternator and water pump itself if that helps; apparently on black top engines you don't need to remove the timing belt!
All help gratefully appreciated.
