VW 1.4 16V Oil light problem.
Discussion
I'm looking for a bit of advice on the following please folks : Youngest son has a 1.4 16v Polo which after circa 30 miles is putting the red oil light and warning buzzer on. It stays on for 20 secs and then comes on intermittently thereafter.
The car has 50k miles on, full history and has just had an oil and filter change plus an oil pressure switch but the fault is still present, the oil pressure is apparently good, vagcom shows nothing. Question, is it likely to be the oil level sensor in the sump ? Or is it an internal/ pump problem. Thanks in advance

Well if the oil pressure has been tested and proven good, using the same port the switch is fitted to.
Then the fault must clearly lie with either the switch/wiring/connector. IF of course it is actually the oil pressure warning light that is coming on.
Thanks for your help here, it's the red light with the audible buzzer rather than the orange light. I'm going to give the go ahead for the garage in Bath to resolve it today. The engine has to right up to operating temperature before it comes on...........time will tell . Then the fault must clearly lie with either the switch/wiring/connector. IF of course it is actually the oil pressure warning light that is coming on.
