Hi there

I would be grateful for some advice on a car I recently bought from auction (VW Up 2013, 19k with full VW history). The car is perfect apart from the following - when I press the clutch there is a "rattling" noise which is more pronounced when you increase the revs. It only does this when the clutch is depressed so is this likely to be the release bearing? After a bit of research clutch/gearbox problems are an issue with the Up, but more so when the clutch is not engaged.

The other issue is the gearbox is quite noisy when driving, especially under load (growling sound), but by all accounts VW says it's a "feature" of the car...could this another symptom of the release bearing?

Thanks

Tim

Thanks for the replies; it is just outside the manufactures warranty but I have an extended VW warranty so will follow that up although it does exclude the clutch.

1) The car makes a rattling noise when the clutch is depressed (and revved), more so when it is cold.
2) When I am driving there is what can best be described as a "growl" (it's not from the engine) when in gear.

Question - could a faulty release bearing also be causing the second noise (2)?
