Automatic transmission shifting
Discussion
Hi,
Can someone please explain what is causing the RPMs to additionally drop with 100-200 shortly after upshift from 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th as seen on the video below. I've noticed this behaviour on a few other cars as well, but most gearboxes shift without this hesitation and I'm not sure if it is normal? I've been looking for an answer the past few days, but since I don't even know if there is a technical term for this, it is pretty hard to get the info I want.

Thanks!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking why in general the rpms drom on upshift! I am asking about this specific case where, if you watch the video you can see, lets say going from 4th to 5th gear, the rpms drop first to about 3750 when the shift happens and then as the vehicle is accelerating they drop a bit more to 3550. It's not a clean and smooth upshift. I edited the first post, so I hope it sounds more clear now.
