So minus six degrees and the VXR8 fast flashing indicator issue rears its head. Expected, thanks to this form but then I notice that all the gauges in the centre of the dash are dead. No back light either? Anyone else had this issue and fixed it? Is there a generic issue with wiring connectors shrinking in the cold, causing bad connectivity or wot? Answers on a post card to...

From my side the Pod issue is, so far, is cold related. I can let the car tick over and warm up, whilst scraping the ice off, switch the engine off and come back five mins later and all is fine. So far the radio is fine but hey... What's that??? Windows NT logo. We got a PC inside. The world is my oyster. I'll definately be digging deeper into that one. DAB Radio, SOA Sat Nav, tinternet, blah blah blah, here we go. Best snipet of info I've gleaned for a while.

If more and more things are affected by cold, I think I'll probably spend some of the summer time replacing the old wiring looms with a CANBUS system, as far as can, like the current crop of Kraut waggons etc.

Interesting about the pods, I thought it was just mine and people think its cold weather related?
Mine includes the radio blanking out just for a few moments and then it reboots displaying the Windows NT logo

Nice one. All good 'grist to the mill' on this issue. Mines consistent on both sides, front to rear, all lights still flash so in true Aussie style, No worries mate. For now. wink

I've never had the issue with the dials but I literally just fixed my indicators today. As far as I can tell (and someone might want to correct me) there are two problems. The first is caused by the control modules, a lot of these were replaced on warranty for a known fault, the replacement units are identified by a yellow sticker on the casing. The second problem is the indicator units themselves, the build quality seems to be fairly shoddy from what I can tell. There is a thread on another forum about how to remove/dismantle the actual indicator units. When I took mine apart I found random bits of solder shorting out various tracks and components. Once I cleaned it up and reworked a couple of solder joints the problem went away. If your car only does it on one side an easy way to work out if the problem is the control module or the light unit is to remove the lights and plug them into the control module on the other side (the wiring is the same both sides on my VXR8). If the fast click swaps sides then the problem is the light unit, if it stays in the same place it is the control module.

Funny, your friends comments. smile I'm quite amused by the indicator thing too. It's like 'Indicating', fúck it's cold!, 'INDICATING! INDICATING!!!' He He.
Watch this space though, cos when the weather gets warmer, I'll deal with this indicator issue and there will be no mega bucks involved from this side.

I've got fast flashers on both sides intermittently. Can't say it's 100% temperature related though.
Interestingly when i was being followed by some friends they thought it was cool that the flashing got faster as you got closer to the turn and assumed it was clever electronics. Ha ha!
Also i notice i have a couple of led's (i assume they're leds) not lighting up in the nearside tailight. Is that curtains and mega bucks for a new lamp? Not a clue how the led's work - used to old school bulbs.
