New to the forum, just wanted to say high and introduce myself, based in Wigan in the North West, Lancashire. This week I'm picking up my new (new to me) VXR8/HSV after my old one was written off by a taxi driver! :-( Only had the old one 5 weeks before the crash! On the upside I'm going from an 6.0 Ls2 to a 6.2 LS3, just hoping that it lasts longer than 5 weeks this time!

The amount of damage was well over 10K and the insurance wont really bank roll anything over 8K i believe. There was a bit of structural damage underneath, and the cost of importing spare parts also sent the cost flying. All i can say is, thank god there are built like tanks, i was hit at some speed, and was completely unharmed.

true, and even though ive been screwed out of some money, the vxr8 i'm replacing it with is younger, faster and less miles, just needs a few jobs doing on it to make it mine! lol

What happened to the old car?
And specifically engine!?
ironically you should ask, i got an email tonight from a guy who bought it from a salvage company asking about it hahaha, bit of a kick in the teeth but hey ho, was no use to me any more after the insurance company bought it from me, i guess as these cars are rare, they are worth their weight in gold for spares

i loved that car, it feels different to the one I've got now, it was better. Going to Walkinshaw on wed for work on my current one, I'm going to ask if they worked on the old one, see what was done to it, I'm sure the gear box was re-mapped.

the older one was snappier, felt sharper, but my LS3 has just come back from Walkinshaw and had a couple of re-maps, on the gear box and engine, and feels similar again. I had no evidence of mods on the old car, but it definitely had something done to it in the past.
