I have noticed that at low speed say below 30 mph my Monaro has a definite surge and seems hesitant. It then clears itself further up the rev range. When you slow down as in coming to a stop it starts to surge again. There are no fault codes showing, and the spark plugs and leads seem in order and they are not that old anyway.
I'm thinking 02 sensor's or maybe the tune is out!

Any ideas?

I forgot to mention my Monaro is a 5.7 VZ model. It has headers, sport cats, cat back ,cold air and a Wortec re-map.
As there is a problem I wonder if a code reader will help? even though the engine management light has not illuminated yet. Failing that how else can I check things out.

Thanks again John

unplug the maf and see what happens
OK will do tomorrow...I take it I will disconnect it then run the engine?
Will this reset the MAF?

I think I've fixed it!!!

I removed all the pipe work from the throttle body to the VCM air filter housing. I then cleaned everything up, except the MAF which was very clean inside anyway.
All was put back together and given a test drive with the MAF disconnected. The car ran fine with no apparent issues. I reconnected the MAF and went for a second test drive, again the car was fine with no surging.
So hopefully it was probably an air leak.Time will tell.
Thanks to Roger from MF for the tip.

Yes my car has started to surge again, very slight but still there.
It seems to come in at around 1500rpm. I have also noticed when I stop at a junction the engine continues to hold the revs for a second or two before it settles down.
would a diagnostic tune show up any faults? still no fault codes shown as yet.
