A friend who was following me this morning commented that my Monaro's exhaust looked a bit wobbly. I had a look this evening and quickly found out why:

Looks to me like it's failed where the mount meets the exhaust, so will require welding to repair. Given that I'm one of the few still running a standard exhaust and given that said exhaust looks pretty corroded all the way down, I'd expect welding would only be a temporary fix. Therefore, my mind has started to wander into upgrade territory.

I see that Monkfish do a Wortec catback system for around £900 (fitted I assume). This is towards the top end of what I'd like to pay so what are my other options within reasonable travel of the midlands?

I'm not really looking for something noisy, it would be nice to have a little more V8 noise, but at the same time, this is my daily and I want to remain on good terms with my neighbours, so don't want anything too shouty.

Most exhaust places will be able to build a system for you. Keep a decent size centre box as this cuts down any drone which is a killer to live with!
Where are you based?
I live just outside Coventry, so anywhere within an hour or so of there would be good.

Any thoughts on Magnaflow exhausts? Seem fairly popular in the US on Pontiac GTOs. Similarly, do Walkinshaw still do exhausts for Monaros? What sort of noise level & price am I to expect from either of these?

Thanks for the advice everyone, played it safe and went for a Wortec from Monkfish in the end. Now just hoping the current exhaust doesn't fall off before I can get it changed.

How you finding your new exhaust??
Going fine so far. It drones a bit below 1500rpm and at 2500 rpm, but that just means I have to be slightly less lazy with selecting the right gear. More importantly it adds more proper V8 sounds whilst still remaining sensible enough to be a daily driver and nice and quiet at motorway crusing speeds.
