I just been reading that the rear subs in all the G8's in the USA where wired wrong, everyone that has swapped the wires over are now saying that the stock system sounds really good now, has anyone tried this or checked that VXR8's are wired the wrong way too?

IIRC I think Granby just changed the wires over from inside the boot on the speakers, might need a soldering iron tho ?
OK I will get intouch with him tomorrow, cheers TB

Correct, the rear subs are out of phase and i was surprised how much more bass there was when i rewired them, it's not earth shattering bass but well worth doing as it's a zero cost mod smile
Did you desolder and resolder the wires over on both subs from inside the boot?

I decided to get the soldering iron out and swap the wires over, very easy to do, if I can get in the boot anyone can!!! LOL
Definitely makes a better sound from the standard stereo, took ten minutes to do and makes a lot of difference, had to lower the base on the head unit controls and went one digit away from the rear on the fader, can crank the volume right up with much tighter base.

As you can see in the photo, no need to remove anything to get to the speaker, just swap the wires so the yellow one is nearest the seats and the green nearest the bumper.

I done this around 3 years ago, then got laughed at when I mentioned it made a marginal difference, that said haven't used the speakers since having the bi modal fitted.

Glad to see you can fit in the boot though Mick lol

I have had the car 3 years and you really know it makes a big difference like today when you get in it after not driving it for a few days and the radio comes on and you think "yes that really has made a difference" think I need to drop the sub gain back to what it was when I got the car, where is the sub amp situated in the boot? I can't remember what side it is ?

My yellow wire`s are near the bumper, so will be doing this soon.

But, to be honest, the sound is not to bad at the moment. Look forward to it being even better, hopefully!!!

Regards.

Exactly what I thought Dave, I thought it sounded pretty good for stock, but now its even better, but like I mentioned, I have got to turn the sub amp back down to middle notch which I upped when I got the car.

You shouldn't need anymore as there is plenty on there. Just hold the iron on the connection for a few seconds and soldr.will melt.

Suprised by how much better it sounds now
Glad your liking the lowered look Dave smile much better.

You shouldn't need more solder but will depend on soldering iron, a small gas one like I have does not really get hot enough and needed to add some extra solder to the tip to get the heat transfer to melt what is on the speaker, if you have the electric type you should be fine, it helped to have a pair of long nose pliers to hold the wires when taking off and soldering back on as they are very short, best to wear a pair of glasses for safety.
