I've been asked to provide the insurance company (Onecall) with my NI number so they can do a licence check (this is a first so I'm wondering why?) but I'm not keen on letting them have this (the NINO that is), nothing to hide as such but I don't fancy them having this extra personal data. I did the quote thru gocompare 2 weeks ago and if I'd known beforehand about all this malarkey would have gone elsewhere (when renewing over the phone they even asked if the car was in a police compound!).

Has anyone else on here had to go through this nonsense?

I'd just ask if they'd accept the code.
That's what I was thinking.

They obviously don't trust anyone, we've already disclosed points but they also check to see if you've got expunged points (notice how to can ask for points to be removed after 4 years but the insurance companies say, ...in the last 5 years". It's just so they can fleece you for a few more quid.
