Group visit to Duxford next spring?

After Major Monaro posted a picture on Facebook, it prompted me to think we should visit Duxford next year.

March time anyone?

Gauging interest at the moment, and will ask for commitment at a later date.

What day would suit people? Any week-ends that clash with other meets?

We won't please everyone, but as long as it pleases me (and the majority) I'll ask about group rates etc.

I think it's about 3 hours from you. It's two from me, and nearly an hour and a half from our usual meeting point (007s pub). I think that opening times are 10am to 6pm, so was thinking that arriving there at midday would mean everyone can travel on the day, and start their journey at a civilised time. That's not to say people won't want to stay overnight on the Saturday if they wish, but that can be sorted nearer the time, and will probably need more Brownie points.

Current earmarked date is 20th March - Palm Sunday.

Can't you swap, this much in advance? The problem with 27th is it is Easter weekend, and people will be doing egg hunts and things.

I've just sent an e-mail to Duxford asking for room for 12-20 cars, and saying that we will arrive at about midday.

Moderators, can you make this a sticky please, and amend the title to "HSV visit to Duxford 20th March 2016"

As a few months have passed since I first suggested it, I won't hold anyone to their earlier commitment, but can we now copy and paste the below list, for people that will be coming?

Correct. It is part of the Imperial War Museum, and houses a great collection of warbirds.

The SE idea is to leave 007s pub at 10-10.30 ish, so getting to Duxford for just before midday. If you want to plan around that for the Northern convoy.....
