11/09/2016 - Chester - VXR8 & Monaro Meet
Discussion
Hi all,
Whilst I was at MW Performance on Thursday having my 500 mile ‘run in’ oil change, Marc, the Director, was telling me that he intends to host a meet for VXR8 and Monaro owners (and enthusiasts) at his premises near Chester (Cheshire, CH4 8RL) on Sunday 11th September.
I'll be going along with my recently returned (and 'breathed upon') Monaro VXR 500. A lot of 'forging' gone on over the last year - not had it on the dyno yet - but here's a before ...

... and ...

Look forward to telling you about it.
I know a few of you bought your Monaro’s and VXR8s from Marc and/or have had some work done by him and his team. It might be good for a reunion for the cars (although I realise that some of you live a way off).
Those of you who have been to Marc’s Saltney base will know that he has a very impressive setup and he and his guys have built a vast knowledge and experience through working on our treasured cars - his garage is like an operating theatre it’s so clean and spotless!
He's hoping to invite a car mag along later in the year (Octoberish) for a VXR Dyno day as well - so be good to plan for that; we Monaro and VXR8 owners might even appear in a feature! I think there’s a more formal Vectra day already planned for the Saturday 10th if you are also interested in that – but I don’t have the details.
I'll be happy to gather names to give Marc so that he has an indication as to likely numbers – but he tells me it’s just a casual get together so no need to fully commit of course. Be great if you can make it though.
Feel free to ask any questions and I'll post more details as I get them - think there's likely to be the obligatory refreshments van.
Here's Marc's Internet site with all of the location and contact details.

Best regards
Ian

I'd love to support, but 300 miles each way is a little far for a burger. If he offers chips too, that's another matter.
Cheers Ian - I completely understand. He does actually do chips - of the micro variety.
I'll keep posting extra info if that's OK - maybe a North West meet for September - but I know that Marc's hoping for a magazine slot in October (with interviews of owners) so that might be more attractive.
Some very good (and reasonably priced) hotels around Chester - and there's the famous zoo of course.
I'll try to pull a suggsted itinerary together.
Best
Ian
Hi all,
As promised, an update with regard to the Monaro/VXR meet on Sunday, 11th September.

Quick update all ...
Just received word that the editor of 'Performance Vauxhall' wants to make a feature of the weekend (they are covering Vectra Dyno Day on the day before).
Think I'm going to have to get my broken fog lamp fixed!
I'm also going to take along my DJI Phantom 4 (drone)- so we should get some aerial shots in.
Happy days.

I'm afraid I now have to pull out of this due to circumstances outside of my control. Real shame as I've not been to MW Performance before and would have liked to see what they have...
No worries Paul - thank you for letting me know.I think there's a dedicated magazine shoot in the pipeline for October - I'll keep you posted.
Best

I'll post a note of gratitude to the MWP team (and some pictures/links to pictures later in the week when I get a sec).
Here's to the next one.

Hi all,
Whilst I was able to place a face and car to most of the (PH) names on Sunday, if you wouldn't mind, could you send me a PM to confirm that you were there please (from the list below).
I'd like to be able to 'ping' you if anything else comes up that you might be interested in.
I'll also (reluctantly!) resurrect my Facebook account so that I can cross fertilize information.
:-)
Best wishes,
Ian

Great day out and meet some new friends, big thanks to Mark and his team.
Ian tried to find details on fog lamps from the box the lamps came in, could only come up with part no JM 330 oval fog lamp, they measure 90mmx69mmx64mm depth. I have looked on ebay and can only find them in blue lens made by JDM, you may be able to search the internet for clear lens, mine came from Bulgaria.
Hope this helps.
