Hi just wondering if anyone has tried fitting one of these panel filters to their monaro, and if so did they get any change to their induction sound?

I'm not really interested in fitting a cone filter or hacking up the air box.

Fair enough. I test drove the v8 m3 and focus RS mk3 before choosing the HSV, and they both had very noticeable induction sounds. Just wondered if anyone had achieved something similar on these. Not that it needs it though!

I suspect the m3/RS channel induction sound into the cabin whereas the monaros sound proofing hides it because its loud enough without it.
I actually find the monaro to be more refined overall. Yes its more basic (and fun), but I have no tyre roar and no whines. At slow speeds it roars like a lion and at motorway speeds its the quietest and most refined car I have ever driven. Though to be fair I have a custom cat back system so it probably has different characteristics to the systems you can buy.

Only exceptions to this is that you can hear a donk at low speed acceleration even though I've changed the diff oil and checked for cv play. I suspect the doughnut rubber design in the prop add to the unwanted lash because of their retro design.

Yes, the donk/clunk is part of the Monaro trait.
As far as i'm aware that's normal for one of these car's, especially since the diff is bolted directly to the chassis.
TBH my car is terrible for that, however next month a new pedders half shaft should sort most of that out!
As for diff whine, (which mine does) I forgot to mention my car has a 390.1 rear end, which are prone to a little bit of a whine

It's odd they've decided to mount it in such a way. It would be interesting to know if anyone has found a way to eliminate it completely as there's no obviously perished items to replace.
