Hello All,

I am a long time lurker of piston heads, however finally, I need some help/advice.

I am looking at bringing a HSV E2 VE R8 Maloo 6 Speed (minter) Red, full history with 40,000ks over to UK for a month on a driving holiday. The Maloo is basically stock, does have a Walkingshaw Exhaust and Walkinshaw Growler Style intake which sounds the business. It also has the E3 20 inch genuine HSV staggered Pentagon wheels that the previous owner fitted.

The cost of shipping it back to Australia is about the same price as compliance and import duty (ish).

However not being a very popular car over in the UK, I was trying to work out what it would be worth if sold in the UK. In Australia it's a $40-$45kAUD ask.

The closest thing I have come across in the UK is a VZ Maloo which was advertised for 22,000 pounds with similar k's. But an E2 VE Maloo is worth nearly twice what a VZ Maloo is worth here. There was also a Supercharged VF SSV for 47500 pounds, which here would fetch about the same as the VE E2 R8 Maloo.

What do you guys think would be a fair price in the UK, especially now the VF Maloos are being sold in the UK new as VXRs it will make the Maloo a little less rare I guess.

Any ideas or thoughts on value would be appreciated.

Cheers
Andrew

Somewhere between £23k and £27k would be my guess, once it was registered for the road in the UK - similar in price to the E2 GTS that changed hands last year.

If you don't want the hassle of dealing with the registration then I reckon that will knock £5k off that value.

Thanks for the figures ARAF, much appreciated. That's about what this example is worth in Australia. Which might explain why not many get imported to the UK.

I'll buy it if it's a manual
It's a manual and very low k's. Let me know if you are genuinely interested and what sort of money.

There's only 11 manual E2 R8s for sale in Aus at the moment the next lowest kilometre car is double this one. It's hard to find one in good nick here, it's almost a shame they appeal so much as work vehicles. Interiors get neglected and k's racked up all too often. But that's what makes them appeal to the masses.

I guess we'll see what the market does over here as the production comes closer to an end.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Really do appreciate it.

I'll try and get on to Walkinshaw and get a price put on it properly. That way I'll know whether to go down the import and compliance route, or the bring the beast back to Aus. I've had an E60 M5 since 2009 and started playing with a few other cars like Evos and XJRs over the last few years. Still have them all, but the ute has such an awesome presence on the road.

Strangely enough, since the ute liner is basically brand new, i'm scared to use the ute tray for fear of scratching it. It's the most impractical practical vehicle in the world.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Cheers
Andrew
