Has anyone ever thought of mesh to protect rad on Tamora?

After giving my Tam her first proper clean, it occurred to me that the lower front of the radiator is quite exposed, and thought that perhaps some chrome/SS type of wire mesh would look quite good in the front lip.

Has anyone tried this, or is it me being an anal idiot?

That looks perfect! I will buy some of that. I am guessing you'd need to glass fibre/epoxy it in place on the inside edge of the opening?

On my griff it was pop riveted to the inside just in front of the rad, I just drilled out the old pop rivets, although half of them weren't actually gripping the old mesh anymore. Then pop riveted the new one in using some washers to help grip the mesh, easy enough as I already had the rad out for replacement

Cheers Although I am not sure the Tamora has anything like that pop riveted, which is why I am assuming the mesh would need to be glued in place, either with actual fibre glass or epoxy resin - or sikaflex...

I almost bought the aluminium mesh that is linked in this thread, but then though, would stainless steel be better? Something like this:

But am still stuck on how to fix it securely in place without the need to drill holes for nut/bolts/pop-rivets in the inside 'mouth' of the Tam opening.

I am thinking that perhaps if it is bent to shape to follow the contours of the inside of the mouth, would Sikaflex do?

With the MX5 there were a couple of handy brackets already there, but I'm thinking of tacking some to the inside of the mouth with self-tappers.

Good idea! I need to see what access I have from behind the nose...
