Has anyone recently had a succesful windscreen replacement? I had a trawl through earlier posts and encountered this
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
which is a little out of date for use for a recomendation for a good fitting company.
My Tam has been off the road, garaged and under her blanky while my door ECU was being repaired. I had cause to drag her out of the garage on Saturday, only to dicover a 6" crack in the top corner of the screen which wasn't there when she was last out. I suspect its from a local pothole but can't be certain; definitely not been touched in the garage. Thus I'm in need of a new screen, properly fitted, without any dashboard slashing or other scenarios I dare not consider. I have yet to contact my insurer as I thought it best to have my information up front.
Grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks for all your responses guys, my insurer has Autoglass as their nominated windscreen replacement company. I don't think i can get them to use another of my choice so-
I've had a chat with them and i'll get it done somewhere I can keep a check on them.

Well the glass is out- only 1 small minor nick to the "leather" below the screen which was almost bonded to the glass.
Job now stopped- Now the sceen out, its exposed the rivetted plates which the screen bonds to- they look like galvanised biscuit tin remnants-and are quite badly rusted in places. I can't leave them like that, job currently stopped whilst i contemplate my next move.........

For sure Steve. worrying thing was that it was undetectable with the screen in place. I guess its an area for holding water when it rains and forms a capillary under the rubbers.
I had no way of getting a lift home so had to abandon her there for now and get a train. frown
