So all has been well and engine running very sweetly until ..... Car stalled at junction dropping down into second gear.
When trying to restart all electrics and pumps primed as normal but then sounded as if the battery was dead, would turn over once only.
Managed to jump the car and drive slowly back to well know mechanic who said the alternator was gone and that it sounded as if the bearing had gone in it.
The car was also running a bit lumpy, could this be due to alternator and power supply to ECU, fuel management etc?

And lastly, once air box off is it fairly straightforward to get to the Alternator to remove it?

Thanks, have removed the alternator and it has gone, making a very funny noise when turned so replacement going in tomorrow. Will check and change the fuse just to be on the safe side plus the belts etc.
Fingers crossed then back to normal!

New alternator and fuse, the 100a fuse had blown, and running spot on.

Just in case anyone is interested, Eriks keep the alternator belts on the shelf for £9 which seems reasonable!
