From CliveF, and very nice they look too.

Am hoping to have them fitted this week. I was toying with putting them on myself, but I want the whole exhaust removed so I can finish wrapping what I couldn't while in-situ. The thought of trying to get under the car again with just axle stands become too much for me, plus the fact that I'm an idiot and would most likely end up with the exhaust falling on my head - best to have it on a proper ramp, so the job can be done properly.

Am hoping that, because I have the full big bore ACT system from cats back, the sound won't be so bad.

I will then book it in with Dom for a remap and dyno run.

I guess having decats is one thing you have to try...hehe

I suspect its going to be LOUD! I have the full Act big bore system on my T350 (with cats) and it sounds just right IMO.

By the way, did you get your suspension problems sorted? I recall you having Nitrons fitted and then reporting rather negatively? I may have missed an update somewhere?
If it is too loud, I can always revert back to the new cats. I have found the ACT system is actually quieter than the standard exhaust with the Powers bean can tail ends. I just want to eliminate the resonance with the ACT system, which I hope wrapping the remaining parts will help achieve.

I also read that if you have the full ACT system, rather than just the back box, the decats are not so bad, noise-wise. Either way, I shall soon find out for myself..

Regarding the Nitrons, they are now a lot better. I got Powers to change the settings (along with full geo and change in tyre sizes, 40 profile on the front) and increase ride height. A lot less 'crashy' over bad surfaces, now.

The Mk1 has decats and isn't too bad on std rear silencers, but the Mk3 has cats and the sag cans on at the moment and that sound much louder. The Mk1 also had a decat chip which was good, the main advantage was the fans coming in at the first point and kept the motor cooler.
The ACT system I have is pretty quiet, but still hate the resonance and vibration in the cabin when lifting off. Trying my best to eliminate it (hence the wrapping)- not sure if the decats will help there, though.

My ACT doesn't resonate etc. Have you checked clearances it may just be catching an undertray etc. also are your engine mounts good as this could make it catch...
Yeah, sorted the undertray with more spacer washers, and had engine mounts sorted when I had the 4.3 earlier this year - the resonance can be very annoying, and very elusive to find the cause!

ETA - I shall ask them to check engine mounts when I have the decats fitted on Friday, just in case..

Chris can you comment on how the car sounds at circa 65-75mph? Has the decatting had an affect? I have the big bore ACT system (red rose) with decats and it really booms at that engine speed... rather annoyingly, as it means I either go everywhere at 60mph or break the speed limit and suffer whistling from the targa panels!!! arghh
I will let you know, am having them installed on Friday and David Geralds..

OK, they're on, and....

Brilliant! They sound great, not much change from normal driving at all, just mega pops, crackles and bangs on the overrun - my worst fears were unfounded. The sound is slightly deeper and throttle response is sharper, and smoother when lifting off, which surprised me (I know some said it would be, but I wasn't sure if I'd personally notice)

This is CliveF's decat cone shaped pipes and the ACT full big bore system.

I can certainly live with them!

Only downside was the fact it pissed down all the way to Redditch and all the way back to Cinderford frown Tam didn't miss a beat, though! smile

Oh yes, seen a very poorly 05 plate Sagaris at David Geralds, anyone on here?

Update!

My wife just drove home in the Tam from Gloucester, and she loved it!

She kept revving it to make it pop and bang, and then giggled like a little girl!

She said that she knew I didn't go all the way to Redditch just have the exhaust wrapped... hehe
