During my four hours in the car yesterday (rain, stuck in traffic, wishing I had air con as every time I opened the window, I got drenched..), I noticed the dash periodically flickers on and off, as if it's rebooting. it only goes off for a split second (blink and you'd miss it), but it definitely blinked on and off more frequently when the engine was very hot.

Is this the ECU?

Sounds more like a loose connection somewhere.
You may be right, Shep. I don't ever recall my first Tam ever doing that. I think I shall buy that ribbon cable from Powers at some point...

What does Dom sell them for? I priced them up but not from Dom, almost fell off my perch laughing when I was quoted by TVR parts. Get a couple of printer cables off ebay for less than £10 that do the same job
£23

Don't get ripped off Guys!!

These cables are available from RS and are £5.22 each plus VAT for a 1 meter long one. They are great quality ribbon cables and the ends allow the cables to plug in and the cable run at 90 degrees to them (if that makes sense). RS code 489936

Cheers Lee! I am assuming that pic of the lead isn't representative, as the connectors need to be both male?

No - one end of the cable is male, the other female, that way you can't cross connect them between the ecu & clock pack. I have ordered a pair. Cheers for the heads up Lee. 20% off at the moment too so a pair is coming in just over £12

Thanks for the clarification smile I too have ordered two of them.
