Just noticed a new product on the ACT website:

http://www.actproducts.co.uk/product/cfab06s-perfo...

"Carbon fibre TVR speed six air-box , with fluero lined/ fuel resistant silicone induction hoses"

Anyone tried one of these?

If nothing else, it would certainly make the engine bay look a little different with this individual silicon hoses. I wonder if there are any performace advantages to this?

(Not that I want one, I have said I am happy with my car now....)

Did you find any noticeable difference between yours and the standard?

(Not that I want one, of course...)

Difficult to tell tbh, sometimes I think it feels like it has a bit more torque, but I'm under no illusions that it's really just an expensive piece of engine bay bling, what I need to do is get it on Jules rollers to compare it to last years graph.
Cheers smile

I assume it would be worth having a remap at the same time the new box is installed, to get the most out of it (if there is indeed anything extra to be had).

From all that I have read on here, it seems that different 'new and improved' air boxes just change slightly where the power curve is - some favour a stronger top end and others more torque lower down, but never by much, such is the good design of the original (which is already massive compared to most other air boxes..)

I'm a step ahead of you, muhahaha.... tongue out Looking forward to Brendan's arriving shortly. So with other tweaks im having e.g. Lightened flywheel, modified throttle bodies to better accommodate the hoses without the impingement, larger injectors....oh and the ACT exhaust system ..... I've also booked in with jules smile

Larger Mortgage again...
hehe

I don't know whether to try and fit it myself, or take it to David Geralds - I always end up breaking something...

Do you know whether you can use the carbon trumpets with this particular model, as it isn't advertised as an add-one, like the standard CF box?

Which one have you bought? Mines Brendan's for similar price, full carbon, silicon hoses, trumpets and additional breather pipe for extra cold air. The extra pipe allows air to enter from the front vents which is fixed in place with a well designed plate. I have the ACT one which is the full carbon with trumpets on my T350, which is also good but fancied a change.
I ordered this one:

Please make sure air/fuel ratio is correct you can't just plug and play especially on Powers bigger engines

So, would it be better to wait for you to fit it?

It would be best if you could check the mapping and adjust as necessary after fitting it.
After speaking to both Dom and Tim, that's what I'm going to do smile

For anyone that's interested, and wonders why this new airbox is more expensive than the original CF box and trumpets put together, the new box comes with trumpets fitted as standard, they are not the same as the old type, so I am told.

This is why it's important to get the TB's re-balanced once the new airbox is in place, as there's every possibility it will run lean otherwise.

ETA - It looks like ACT are now offering the S6 swirl & expansion tank kit - haven't seen it on the website before today:

I am looking forward to the remap to see how well the 4.3 does with the full big bore exhaust, Clive's conical decats and this airbox - although I admit I got the airbox for the engine bay bling....

What do people do with their original airboxes, keep them?

I know there's nothing wrong with mine, no cracks etc. Don't know whether to sell it or hang onto it..

Chris I guess that's a pic of an early one they sent you and not your actual one? For £1000+ I wouldn't want to have those poor moulding marks on show.
That's how it came - I haven't seen any others up close to compare.

No idea but it comes finished. According to his email this morning his new website is due for launch begining of January and the full 'list' of CF products advertised.

P&P is a bit steep - but I am assuming the bulk of that is insurance and packing. Will probably order mine early in Jan when I'm back in the UK. Happy to group an order together for us 'SE London' guys.
Does he have a website?

ETA - I ask because I have searched for Concept Performance twice and get no returns..

As it is called "performance" airbox - has anybody done a test with it?

What's the advantage - compared to the standard one?
AM having mine fitted and remapped in January, I should know then. I do know that there is a problem if you have air con (which I don't), the box doesn't fit, apparently.

Don't think so. Without an exact before / after dyno and NOT doing any other things meanwhile, you will never know if there are performance benefits
I am assuming there will be a before and after, as mine isn't fitted yet - I am not getting it fitted until I take it over to Powers.
