Tarmora start up noises

A friend on mind has just bought a Tamora from a dealer with around 40k on it. Its not had an engine rebuild in its life, so he had the engine checked out by a garage that's supposed to know the straight six, and it came back with a clean bill of health in terms of compression, cam followers and clearances etc. The engine does however rattle fairly badly on start up - he tells me its known piston slap on this engine- but its not a Japanese 2 stroke. It sounds more bearing like to me as it clears as the oil pressure rises. What's normal start up on these engines as its the first one Ive come across?
