Modified SpeedSix engine - insurance
Discussion
I was with Mannings but they couldn't match Classicline so i've now gone with them. 4.3, big brakes, exhaust system, nitrons all declared and just over £400 for 5k miles with guaranteed value. Not too bad for a 35yr old male driver I think. Mines coming up for renewal so will try the usual suspects, I think Reiss and Footman James were suggested to me recently as well.

Yes and remaps and notify DVLA of engine size changes otherwise your insurance could be null and void .
That's great, but aren't decats illegal? Thus invalidating insurance? Also if plod were to pull you over and you insurance docs show decay are you opening yourself up to a fine?Edited by glow worm on Friday 17th February 23:02

Lovely car by the way.
Thanks... Looking rather sad at the moment as it was a filthy day when I drove it up from Berkshire.... I think I need to get up there and clean the engine bay whilst it's out... I can't believe how filthy and black it is !!! Where does all that sh*te come from ?? I thought I was quite good at general, non-OCD cleaning !!Looking forward to getting the 4.5 engine upgrade...

Hey Mike,Looking forward to getting the 4.5 engine upgrade...
How's the car been treating you the past few years? Interesting you are considering an engine swap - I considered an LS3 swap during my ownership and now deeply regret not keeping the car and doing just that!
I hope all is well
Mannings for me. £350 for a 4.3, de-cat, nitrons, ACT exhaust, 5k pa and agreed value of 38k. I’m 41 and the car is garaged.
More importantly I can also (unfortunately) vouch for just how bloody good they are in the event of a claim, especially when something goes wrong with the repairing cowboys, I mean garage. Without Mannings help I’d have been severely screwed so I have a lot of loyalty towards them.

I do a lot more miles than Zippee and use mine for business mileage so my premium is higher but can also vouch for their cover in the event of a claim. Whether that is down to their own staff or choice of underwriters. I too now have a lot of loyalty towards them.
