Caught speeding on the A3 in my Vantage by un-marked Merc
Discussion
I was stopped this evening @ 530pm by an un-marked black Mercedes A-Class when I exceeded the 50mph limit on the Kingston By-Pass just past the Hook Under Pass on the A3. He just said it was bad luck and smiled as he awarded me 3pts. Didn't ask for ID or my license saying that the car had video equipment that did it all automatically.

Not sure if it's unlucky or just a matter of time before you get caught in the UK. As time passess it seems more and more like a police state for the motorist. I was caught on a recent trip Back to the UK (in the dead of the night on a motorway) by some new fangled contraption called an "average speed camera". Not even sure George Orwell could have com up with that, BTW that's only a step away from fining you based on your mobile phone GPS signal. And they say England is a free country.......

You think it's bad in the UK, try living in France. It's over-policed to the point of being ridiculous.
I have had several speeding tickets for being 1km/h over the limit. I even had one once for doing 114km/h in a 130km/h zone. The ticket said that the speed limit was 130km/h - I saw the car that flashed me and assumed it couldn't be for me. I had a chance to check the speed limit again a couple of months after paying the fine - it was indeed 130km/h. One way to generate revenue, I suppose.

The "you could just drive at the limit" brigade will be here any minute to state the bleeding obvious and tell you how many kittens you've endangered.
It's bloody annoying though, I'm up to 9 points for relatively minor infractions. So hard not to flip your lid at the guy in the front seat, doing a job he may be, but doing a worthwhile job he ain't!

Sooooo annoying but, hey, you'd think you would have been a bit more sensible with 6 points in the bag
I'm just back from Spain where the limit is slightly higher - not sure why the limits are different - but how much over were you?
No choice to go on a "Yeti" course at your local Hilton ??

God bless our *Autobahns* !
How do you tell if you're on one? Myself, a 550 and a 3200 were maxing our cars out in Germany and then all realised we didn't know if we were in a derestricted section or not... Some hurried braking and shrugging followed
last time I was there with a group, in 2007 some kind policemen pulled us as we crossed the border into Germany, checked out the cars, gave some friendly "advice" re our driving and derestricted signs, then stayed with us until we reached them
...it was strange waving goodbye to policeman at 120mph + but most enjoyable experience being able to max out the car without worry *
- then promptly realised after looking at fuel computer, if you cruise at 150mph it will take a lot longer to get to your destination than cruising at 100mph due to vastly decreased fuel refill intervals
You could always try not speeding, you irresponsible fool. It would save fuel, thereby stopping global warming, which will lead to a rise in sea levels, flooding the vast areas of the world. People like you should be ashamed. Take a look at the bugs squashed on your front bumper. They might be alive if you'd been travelling at 4mph with a man in front of you carrying a red flag. Better still get a bicycle and keep fit at the same time. Maybe a hybrid bicycle with a solar panel too. I think we should empty the prisons of rapists and burglars (well those who get custodial sentences) to make room for lead-footers, such as yourself...

read the signs
Cool, didn't realise it was that easy. So there's a clearly marked 'AUTOBAHN - DERESTRICTED, NO SPEED LIMIT' sign in English at the start of every section is there..? Good of das copper to do that for you, those Germans think of everything!
very efficient coppers ..they even took photos of us with our cars/plates ...apparently they had issues the week before with the Danish Ferrari club driving like loonies just after crossing the border LOL
they were ok when we explained we were not Danish and were not in a club or a Ferrari
