Dealer Add-Ons
Discussion
Being offered a few add-ons for the vantage since I bought it:
- Gap Insurance (pays out difference between invoice and insurance)
- Tyre Damage Cover (malicious damage, blowouts etc)
- Smart Insurance (scratches/dents/chips cover)
- Pureguard (Paint/Fabric Protection)
Anyone taken any of these out?
thanks

Thanks guys - thought as much - wasn't just me thinking about the $$'s in his eye's when he explained all these items to me
Detailing definitely yes........I would like to get that done at some point. I'm not sure with detailing whether it's best to take it to detailer's premises or have them come to my home?

I think all of the products on offer are subjective to how much you'd drive the car. I don't/won't use the car as a daily so maybe some of the products on offer aren't worth it.......
I've had 1 tyre blow out ever over a period of 8 years of sports cars. Hardly ever scuffed an alloy as i'm quite careful.
Had a few scratches but they polished out.
Never (touch wood) had a bad accident.

I was quoted this on tyre insurance:
TYRE DAMAGE COVER – TYRE PROTECTION IS DESIGNED TO COVER THE COST OF A REPLACEMENT TYRE IN THE EVENT OF A BLOWOUT, PUNCTURE OR MALICIOUS DAMAGE FOR A PERIOD OF 2 YEARS UP TO A MAXIMUM CLAIM OF £450.00 PER TYRE AND UP TO 5 TYRES OVER A 2 YEAR PERIOD & Alloy Cover 10 claims in 2 year period. Individual cost £649.00
£599.00 for Superguard which still seems like a rip off.

never tried it but believe it’s truly horrendous ......I did drink a good bottle of Amarone last night and polished of the half bottle of pudding wine that we opened at the weekend....o yes and a Moscow mule to start with

Gap insurance fills the profit gap between the lower and upper estimate of what the dealer would like to make on any deal. It’s not for the financially astute
I disagree. If you bought an aston brand new at 150k for example, you might lose 40k in 1 year so then it would become worth it for the sake of a few hundred quid michael gould said:
We are agreed on that one......I don’t like all these financial products that dealers try to flog to people these days......they may have a place for some people but the fact the dealers are making 50% profit on some products tells me something
Put it this way the tyre cover he quoted me 645, another PH member got the same product at 245!Like the guys said earlier, if you do want a policy go elsewhere
