Hello AM people. I usually am on the opposition threads but want my first taste of am AM. I am looking at a 62 reg AM V12V and would like to ask advice on the cars "must haves""must nots" on options etc. I am also very interested in what colours are good vs not. The one I am looking at is Ameythest Red and this is not a typical AM colour so views very much appreciated. Thank you! smile

Thank you everyone. Some excellent advice and support my desire for the car! It is the one at Wilmslow. I am off for a test drive in another V!2V this Friday and cannot wait. I also like the cars you guys run, especially the cab version of the V12V!!! Thank you. Will let you know if I close the deal.

Done it!! Taken the plunge and bought the V12V. Pick it up end of next week. Colour is unusual for an AM but looks great. Test drive was great and the car is well loaded so very happy. Thanks for all the views and advice! smile

Go on, tell us a bit more..
Interested to hear your views vs your other cars.. Got a v12v as well and was tempted by a scud a while back..
Well they are all very very different.

Best is the 911 993 Turbo S for sheer pace, road holding and looks. I love this car. It is easy to drive and just a joy to be in. In 3rd upwards it is phenomenal.

Second is the 16M. I love it in Race mode and it is surprisingly easy and comfortable to drive. The noise is great when you press on but sometimes can be intrusive when your driving normally.

Third the 911C2. That car is not as quick as the others but a joy to drive. It feels perfectly balanced and a fun car. Yet when you have had enough it is really easy and comfortable around town.

Fourth the Barchetta. Sounds wonderful but I find the gearbox sometimes lets me down as I just do not drive it enough. That said the

Fifth the 997 turbo which is the fastest and easiest but least engaging.

I have not driven the V12 AM enough yet but it will beat them all in the noise stakes.

But probably the very very best is the S65 which is effortless and very fast. It is understated but wish it would make a better noise - perhaps like the AM V12!!!!

Cheers
