When starting from cold there is a faint noise like the heater being on a very slow speed but higher pitched (like a soft squeal) and when I turn the steering wheel it goes and comes back when I stop turning it. When the engine is about a quarter warmed up the noise goes and this only happens on a cold start. Totally gone when the car is warm.

The guys at Grange have replaced the drive belt as this is sometimes the cause but the noise is still there, so they are now talking to AM. The Morning Frost V12V in the showroom also makes the same noise on a cold start.

I just thought I would see if any of the V12V owners here (particularly the new ones as something may have changed in the later cars) have also noticed this noise. It may help me and Grange to understand if it is common or rare as to how to diagnose it.

Basically, if they all do it then I shall save Grange some time and effort and ignore it. Or if someone has had it and rectified it again we can save some diagnostic time.

I have a similar noise that goes when I switch AC off. Its with the dealer being looked at as we speak. Yours sounds like power steering pump ??
I thought maybe the pump but wondered why it goes when the car is warm. Odd that the other new V12V also has it. Maybe a bad batch of pumps or something else in the chain?

Yup my current V12V does that too and only from a cold start and lasts about 10mins before it goes away. Sounds a bit like a distant kettle boiling or gurgling / whistling / squeaking.

I've enquired when the car was last in for a few niggles sorting and was told that some cars do it and others don't. Whilst they were aware of the problem they were unable to identify how to stop it. As it isn't that bad I just now ignore it, I was probably more worried it was a potential faultly part/system.

Oddly enough my first V12V didn't do it.
That's it! I don't like the some cars do it and some don't scenario, especially when I have one that does it frown

Thanks Greg. AM engineers have a sound clip of the noise so am waiting for their thoughts on the next steps.

Hi Simon, I can confirm that my old Jan 2010 Mako beast doth not make said noise!
And if you're at Grange soon could one praps obtain vin of new MFW beast?!
Cheers Phil
Thanks Phil. I will try and get the VIN. It is a lot older than mine as it has been there for quite a few months.
