Embarrassing Breakdowns

Reading about all these embarrassments on Aston ownership I thought it might be amusing to post details of your embarrassing breakdown.
I say embarrassing mainly because of the reactions one gets from the general public which range from a sympathetic conversation to the laughing out loud and gloating shout from the guy in the passing old banger.
Recently I came to a full stop on a Sunday afternoon in the busy one way system around Trafalgar Square.
Don't laugh, I had run out of petrol !
I had to stand for 2 hours directing traffic around the car waiting for the AA to arrive.
My wife was so furious with me that after an hour sitting fuming in the car she got out,without a word,and caught the bus home.
Not an experience I want to repeat.

A while back I had an auto diesel co car I put petrol in
It chugged to a halt in the middle of a dual carriage way approaching the M way
No bugger stopped to help

Just remembered .
My first drive out with my wife and a daughter in the Volante ,roof down ,stopped at busy traffic lights in front position.
Had put the car in neutral,lights changed ,tried to move off ,nothing !
Cars behind now hooting and going crazy.
Then I realised I needed to depress the brake pedal to put the car in auto mode.
