Hi all,

Just testing the water for a 2014 meet ala Hever but to take place at Burghley House at Stamford,PE9 3JY.

After initial contact with their most helpful Events Manager I'm pleased to announce that Burghley would welcome a gathering of Aston's and their owners so if there is sufficient
interest I don't mind organising a new event for our calendar, possibly the end of May or in June, but thats up for debate.

To give you a brief overview,

The cost per car would be £5.00 which allows collective parking for display at the North Court Yard Gate,an additional charge for entry to the Stately Home and its Gardens would
be set on a special 2 for 1 offer at a cost of £12.70 [ie a reduced rate of basically £6.35 each.]

To obtain the reduced rate we must book this year, but more about such things if sufficient numbers can be obtained.

Prior to Public entry at 11 am Photo's right in front of the House will be permitted at no further charge, our cars will be displayed in a horseshoe type line up on the manicured slope
of the main approach lawn which is right in front of the House.

A maximum of 6 Car related trade stands are allowed at a chargeable rate of £25.00 for the day,the houses facilities which include restaurants, ice cream sales and gift shop are all
available to those that fancy a nibble or want to splash some cash.

Have a look at www.burghley.co.uk and let me know what you think and we'll take it from there.

Many thanks,

Ed.

nb,

Tony if your there I would very much like you to be involved in the raffle with the proceeds going to your charities by way of thank you for the continued
efforts you put in for our enjoyment at Hever.

Thats a Great Start,

Tom your a defo for a stand no problems what so ever,it will be great to showcase your wonderful product and let people meet the team.
I'll give you a ring once things pan out further.

Tony your a star and I'm sure a Burghley show would compliment Hever so well, its reasonably central and has great access being literally
on the A1.
Appreciate the Raffle help and obviously don't compromise your Hever Raffle as I too make a very good scroungerhehe.

I will speak with Lucy at Burghley tomorrow after the thread has hopefully gathered momentum to see what dates she can offer for July as
per your suggestion.

You other Guys thanks for your prompt and encouraging responses,I'll do my best to lay on a corker for ever ones enjoyment so keep the thread
at the top of the pile and I'll keep you all posted.

Bob,your a good man stick my name at the top of the list of would be attendee's and hopefully everyone will follow.......ta.

Lets go for it with the more the merrier, they have very nice grass and the House and Gardens are spectacular............cheersthumbup

Woolie,

Being local as well as kind I'll be posting up a listing of available accommodation shortly once I've secured a date.

Their are some very nice places to stay and dine all with in a stones throw of the venue, you'll be able to pick from a decent
range from a sensible budget to some where like the George in Stamford that can be eye wateringly expensive.

My tip, say bugger it and have a look at the famous old George,an experience in the makingthumbup.

Here are some website addresses for accommodation, many are within walking distance of Burghley House and are situated within the Old Town of Stamford.
Early booking is advised as Stamford is quite a tourist trap at times and remains busy in conjunction with the many events that take place around the area.

Some places such as the George will be relatively expensive but I'm sure not to daft especially if your coming from the South.

www.georgeofhotel.com
www.thehaycock.peterborough.com
www.thewilliamcecil.co.uk
www.gardenhousehotel.com
www.thecrownhotelstamford.co.uk
www.thebullandswan.co.uk

All the above are nice character-full Hotels steeped in charm and history, you might even get the odd ghost thrown in as well if your lucky.Apart from the Haycock
which is a famous old Coaching Inn nestled by the side of the A1 at Wansford and about 5 miles from Burghley all the rest are literally on the doorstep.

Pending what cash you want to splash or in the following cases don't here are some very nice Inns and Pubs, again all local to the event and all picked from my own
knowledge. They all offer nice rooms on a B@B basis and all have very nice restaurants which my belly can testify,Parking is good as is their Beer,Wine and allround
hospitality.

www.theexeterarms.net/
www.thewhitehartufford.co.uk
www.thecollywesternslaterpub.co.uk
www.thequeensheadnassington.co.uk

That little lot should keep you going by remember don't just take my word for it have a look on Tripadvisor if your unsure.

Finally if we have any Seafood lovers in our midst I would bring your attention to the Grand Seafood Platter on offer at the
George.......awesome if you like the odd Welk or two........rolleyes

Seriously, sounds great. Rooms are reasonable in the George Hotel so that and the seafood platter are for me cloud9

I assume staying on the 26th and drive to Burghley on the 27th? 13th and 14th are fine too, so as soon as things are confirmed then bookings can be made and seafood looked forward to smile
Great, the Garden room in the George is the place to be IMO much less formal than the Oak Panelled Dining Room, plus you don't have to dress up like a Penguin.

The George is a pleasant 10 minute walk from Burghley House so there's no need to drive on the 27th,you could just enjoy the walktumbleweed.

Really, let me say this once and only once beware the Seafood Platter its a big BcensoredD..............

A pleasure.......lets keep the numbers piling in,although its early days it makes it worthwhile to see such enthusiasm.

You never know if everyone behaves and it don't do my head in I might start doing others, when I came back I said I would look to do things for everyone
and that intention hasn't changed.

I may be daft as a brush but I'm a man of my word and with the sad Demise of that little Blue Urchin shaking the forum to its core it probably needs a pick up
so lets go for it and enjoy the planning, the run up,the day and I'm sure the many more that will followthumbup

ED there is a vacancy for Area 3 rep if your interested you seem to be a dab hand at organising.
I'm interested in attending but it's nearly a year away so will show my interest nearer the time as I'm sure this will go ahead.
It'll go a head alright baring some Plague of Biblical Proportion......or the Wife saying I can'twhistle

Well and as for the Area 3 job........it would be rude to consider as I've just entered the fold so I'm just happy currently being intent
on World Domination, frankly that sounds easier.

Any way long way off or not get on the list as I need a rough guide line for H and S reasons and of coarse the avoidance of independent
Public Liability Insurance for my meeting next week.

So there you have it and finally,

Else,if thou refuse to let my people go,behold, tomorrow will bring Locusts.......

Come on LBS we need stalwarts in attendance, sorry about the timing Lewis, maybe by next July you'll fancy a romantic weekend in the George Hotel.....hopefully.

I appreciate its a long way off and all that but I'm going to close off for the evening now so I'll set the date firm tomorrow then.

BURGHLEY HOUSE MEET WILL TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY 27TH JULY 2014...........put it in your diaries and keep adding to the list please as I'm looking to exceed 50 cars
which is the break point to get ticket concessions.

For your interest the Maximum number is 149/150 as after that it gets daft with H@H,Insurance,Stewarding,Signage,Passes,Blood samples, inside leg measurements etc etc etc etc.
Obviously its doubtful we would reach that number but I thought I'd just throw it out there for your knowledge.

If anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to pm me,thank you and good night.

Ed.
