Sat nav rattles. Anybody fixed it permanently?
Discussion
Since being a few month old my car has suffered from occasional rattles from the sat nav area. It was looked at numerous times under warranty until the dealer managed to sort it, I had hoped once and for all, just before the warranty ran out. They did tell me sat nav rattles are quite common with the firm suspension, so I guess I'm not alone.
Sadly with the state of our roads and the firm suspension the damned rattle has started to resurface from time to time, but becoming more frequent. It used to only occur when the sat nav was lowered but is happening when it's open now as well.
I hate rattles, wondering if anybody has managed to resolve sat nav related ones successfully and if so how?

Hmm thanks guys, you've confirmed what I suspected but hoped wasn't true.
At least I can console myself that as it's an Aston Martin rattle, it will sound the same from model to model, it won't be as loud as other makers rattles, but the ford fiesta will have a very similar rattle and maybe I should have bought one of those and saved a heap of cash.

Anyone read my posts?
Hi yes I've just picked them up thanks very much. The bit I'm struggling with in my head is how to actually take the sat nav / dash cover off, ie the piano black surround, safely and without damage.
The rattles guide just says unclip the four clips, but doesn't say how and I'm reluctant to start inserting sharp instruments down the edges to see if it pops off.
Do you know how to remove it so I can get at the pegs etc, or can it be done without removing the trim?
Lewis, that's great thanks very much far more comprehensive that "remove panel" .
The link you included seems to go back to the forum list?
I'll be giving this a go soon as I get a weekend free, I really appreciate your time and trouble, I hate rattles,
I agree with previous poster too, this should have been sorted by AM years ago as it appears to be a regular issue.

Very useful ski removal guide. I have 2 hair line cracks on my ski around the upper corners of the nav cutout, almost like some weight has been placed on top. I plan to send it off to be re-coated piano black (£100 vs the undoubtedly crazy cost for a replacement) and was wondering how it removed.
Quite a common fault apparently. It happened to mine during warranty, I assumed it was caused by removing it during one of the first attempts to cure the rattle. Was replaced under warranty. Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
