Yes i have heard about the dreaded plinth!! Coming from Porsche you only needed to put supermarket air in the tyres to invalidate the Warranty so ill be enquiring about that....failing that ill do it when i get home!
Priority though is to look at the fuse that will be coming out at the first service station.

Very nice...... Now get your name on the list for Snetterton.... hehe
Ill have to match my rotations out here to make sure im back in UK, either that or the missus can go. She is pretty handy with a new 991 the Porsche Instructor told me at Silverstone so this thing should be no problem for her.

Thanks, not bad for a lad who spent 24 years in the Army who at 19 considered a deal that Nissan were doing at the time of a new Micra with a years free insurance on never never finance!

lol, no it will be in darkest Dorset which speaking to the missus over the past few days there are definitely no other Astons in our village so hopefully a bit of a talking point.

Lovely colour - congrats !

Only advantage of the plinth is a little extra protection - I guess if I parked regular on the street in London I might think twice but even then, it looks sooo much better without ! Not aware of any warranty implications
Well its specc'd with front parking sensors so the plinth is kind of redundant so ill look at taking it off when i get it home. That will please the other half "why you looking for your tools, you told me it was reliable, spending all that money and you want to change it".....i can hear it now!! lol

Well the journey begins. Im just about to get onto a dodgy looking plane from Kanadahar Air Base in Afghanistan to hopefully end up tomorrow at Aston Martin Works and pick up my new car. Its been the longest 2 weeks but the next 24 hrs will be the longest. As per PH requirements, pics will follow!

Well im still Aston'less! Rang DVLA and as of yesterday car is in my name but AMW cant release the car until the paperwork arrives back, and totally understand.
Trouble is chances of it arriving in todays post, well knowing my luck probably not! And to top it all we have that wonderful religous tradition of Easter coming up (im atheist!). So whats the betting ill have no positive phonecall from AMW today and it could look like next Tues!
The slightly different situation im in is I have 4 weeks out of every 12 to drive it, so every day without is one day less not in it! And to top it off, ive not even seen it or driven a Vantage yet which may seem to some to be crazy but thats the kicker I get doing it this way. Bought a few cars like that from afar but never regretted it.
Until then its driving the missus's Cooper S and showing her on Youtube every Vantage clip on there!

Well im now the very proud owner of a exceedingly red V8 Vantage!
As I have mentioned it was the first time I had seen the car this morning when I arrived at AM Works.

The experience was pretty special as well and thanks to Simon and the staff for looking after me, my son and mate. Had the guided tour of the facilities and saw some pretty amazing cars, from 3 1-77's to a V8 Vantage that was in for service from Ghana of all places which looked like it was used on safaris out there!
The journey back to Bournemouth was pretty surreal, never have I had such a massive grin on my face! The girlfriend has just taken it out for the first time as I type!
Ill post more pics of what we saw later.

Just thought i would post some additional pics of my visit to AM Works yesterday to pick up The Car!
One thing that was evident that the cleanliness of the servicing area(s). Even the Heritage Area which you would expect more drips and leaks was spotless.

The view from the customer area. On the left are cars waiting to leave and cars being worked on, on the right.

At the time there was 3 1-77's being either worked on or ready to go. If you look on Youtube a lot, a famous 1-77 was just about to leave and go back to its owner.

The Vantage in the background was from Ghana. All ill say, it looked like it had been on safari out there!!

With the bonnet up, we had to get a photo. Love the suspension setup on this.

These are going for around £2million now.

We also was taken around where the older customer cars come in. From complete strip downs to chassis, to a wheel change, everything can be done here.

Always been a personnel fave of mine, these.

2 Superchargers, and what looks like scaffolding to keep it all in place!

Also a bit of trivia, Aston Martin were the first to use the hatchback style of rear enclosure......but didnt patent it!

Back in the showroom the current range was all represented.

Picking up my new car aside which i cant still believe i own one, the walkaround was excellent. Simon knows his Astons and this and his passion was evident. If you are looking at a 2nd hand Aston i would recommend trying to buy from Works. The setup there obviously uses the advantages of being next door where some of these cars were originally built.
I feel though it may have to go back already though...after a bit of a drive late last night around the outskirts of Bournemouth last night i think i may have a hole in the fuel tank, that or the fuel gauge is reading incorrectly!!! LOVE IT!
