Nice choice. Very nice indeed. I give it two weeks before you start looking for things to "project"... smile

Exterior is too dark and monochromatic without the yellow and it ties with the interior accents. But I'm open to suggestions. smile

I think yellow in the strake area would be a good replacement for the yellow on the sills. Plus, the yellow will be set with the carbon fiber strakes just like how the yellow in the front is set with the carbon fiber grill, so it should tie together the design schema a bit better than the lone yellow on the sills.

Love the car regardless, of course!
This is why I love vinyl: I get to try any combinations I like and, if I don't like it or get bored with it, I can easily change it with no damage or ill effects. Had I ordered the graphics pack, I would have been stuck with Aston's yellow scheme and I really don't like the contrasting a-pillar/cant rails.

Karl - it's looking very good - how does she drive?
Here's what I wrote on the other forum:

I have only driven it from the dealership to my house. It's going to sit in my garage for a little while because I want to correct any paint imperfections and then apply a paint coating before it faces the elements. Also, I have to take the bumpers off in order to install the carbon splitter and diffuser. The problem is that it's been so hot here that it makes working in the garage a not-so-pleasant experience at the moment. I can't wait for it to cool down some from the 105+ degree heat indexes.

I will say that I'm glad I went with the "comfort" suspension option. It absorbs a lot more of the bumps on the road than my 4.3 did. It is also a lot quieter on highway cruise. The car has a sport exhaust but the fuse is still in so at cruising speeds it is fairly serene. Once you pass 4K RPM though, it's like the exhaust angels were released from heaven and it sounds glorious. Truly epic. Pressing the Sport Mode button lowers the RPM at which the valves open to 3K. I will be installing a remote relay so I can select to have the valves open throughout the entire rev range and only close it if I'm on the highway for a long time.

The other thing that I noticed is that you don't feel how fast you are going as much. It's easy to find yourself going 25mph or more over the speed limit if you're not paying attention. The most recent exotic I had driven was the Huracán and the Aston is not nearly at fast but it's hard to compare the speed to the 4.3 now because I haven't driven that car in more than 2 months. I'm sure the extra 50HP makes a big difference. smile

The irony is that I got a lot of raised eyebrows and "are you sure" at the dealership when I spec'd my car. They tried to talk me into going with a dark interior, especially if I was going to do the yellow accents and stitching. Now they all rave about it and say it was a good choice. smile

Still trying to figure out what to do with the sills. I think they might be too bold but I want some color there. There will be some some yellow inside the side strakes to match the inner lipstick so that may be enough. Luckily, vinyl is very easy for me to work with so it's easy to experiment. I took the vinyl on the driver side off yesterday while I see what I come up with. Here's what it looks like without it.

Absolutely stunning KF. I think your choice of yellow accents manage to evoke the history of the brand and yet are very contemporary at the same time, plus I think your interior choice really works. Mine hardly competes in the 'yellow accent' stakes, but I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. Vive la difference !
Yes, but yours comes with the extra pair of vents on the bonnet and all the little goodies which that represents. smile

K-F, is the yellow on the brake calipers not prominent enough?
I have to say that Aston uses a weird color of yellow for their calipers. It is a pale, unsaturated yellow that looks almost pastel. Additionally, they make the Aston Martin lettering on it in silver rather than black so there is very little contrast. Since the wheels are dark anthracite, there needs to be a little more yellow to perk up the sides. Another idea is to add some subtle yellow accent to the wheel itself. Aston also does a contrast inner side strake with the inner color extending back through the line on the door. Might try that as well. I don't know. I'll keep experimenting and see what happens. smile

After looking at pictures of other GTs in this thread I decided that I like the look of the GT stripe after all. The only reason I didn't order it with my car (it was a no-cost delete option) was because the stripe they put on the Alloro Green cars like mine is white in color and it just looked odd with the other (graphics pack) accents being yellow.

So I decided to make my own stripe in yellow—as it properly should've been in my opinion in the first place. I figured I should probably do the harder part first with my custom GT4 logo that shows the green color beneath it.

After putting on the first piece I realized that, maybe, I don't need to do a full stripe. Just the little bit with the logo behind the door looked kind of cool and was "just enough yellow" without having it overwhelm, yet tying in with the other yellow bits at the front and rear.

So here's what it looks like so far. I welcome your opinions. Should I keep it like this, or should I do the full length of the stripe? What do you guys think?

I can't do a fade. It's either yellow vinyl or green paint. I don't know how I would accomplish making a vinyl that goes from a solid color to transparent.

I've never seen clear vinyl except for the paint protection films which are a completely different animal. Car wrap vinyl uses a different type of adhesive layer that is not transparent. It is also applied dry instead of wet like the PPF is.

is it cheaper than including them on the build spec?
Normally it is cheaper to include them in the build spec when ordering the car, but I already had some parts I was going to install on my 4.3 but never got around to. Aston does not give you partial credit if you only want a carbon splitter but not a diffuser for example. It's an all-or-nothing deal.

how about yellow mirrors?

I would leave the side profile clear .. yellow on it smacks of "trying too hard"
On a racecar the contrasting mirrors serve a purpose for the team spotters. On a street car, however, they make me think people will say "oh, poor guy got his mirror nicked and had to put some on from a different colored car"—especially in cases where no other parts of the car are painted to match.

Also, keep in mind that in the US, many things you guys in the UK would consider chav are accepted as cool here. It's a cultural thing I'm sure.

^^^^Some people have been having fun in the other forum photoshopping different styles of stripes and many look really cool but I think for now the "stubby stripe" (as it shall now be named) will remain. smile

I looked quite closely at the yellow on the calipers, the mirrors and the roof stripe .. they colour match very well, and almost perfectly. Any differences are caused by the caliper paint being slightly more glossy (no doubt the paint is also different).
The reason the caliper paint is different in mine is that I chose a brighter vinyl film because I thought the Aston Martin yellow paint on the graphics pack and calipers was too muted.
