Have I broken my sat nav in an expensive way?!
Discussion
Hi everyone.
My CEO was visiting from Denmark and asked for a ride in my 2007MY Vantage earlier. He said "I like the interior" and I said "look it also has sat nav" and pressed the back button to open it. However, I did one of those double presses like some of you will recall doing on the TV sets of old. Regretfully, rather than just causing mild frustration at oneself and delaying the arrival of the green goddess or Selina Scott, which a tv double press caused, my double press led to the mechanism trying to open then try close halfway through opening. Then there was much clicking, grinding and crunching, with my satnav screen on, but stuck half way. Button presses do not move the mechanism but do turn the screen on/off. I can manually raise or lower the screen but the motor does not seem to engage.
My question is - has this ever happened to anyone else? Is it likely that something has just popped out of a cog or doohickey and just needs a well informed jostle back into position, or is it likely I'm looking at an eye watering bill to repair something I never use anyway?!
Any experiences and suggestions greatly appreciated. I am in Weybridge, so if anyone had magic hands and is willing to have a look there is a cup of the and a fine Tunnocks caramel wafer in it for you!
Thanks,
Mark
Ps sorry for any typos - I'm on my iphone trembling a bit...
