Hi ALL.Just joined the Aston forum,so I thought I'd say hello. We have just sold our TVR Tuscan and bought our first Aston Martin V8 Vantage. And are collecting the car this Friday. I can wait. I never thought I could get this excited again at the tender age of 61. I have a few questions to ask.So please bear with me if they have been asked many times before.

As mentioned in my'Say hello'post that we had a TVR Tuscan in Reflex purple. And was a most gorgeous looking car. Getting lots of nice comments, and always pulled a crowd at car shows. Plus other comments like " They fall to bits don't they ?" Well that's quite correct. But better things happen... like a top speed of 185 mph. O to 60 in 4 seconds. And an amazing exhaust note. But sad to say the car was making me deaf, with a continues low down droning noise. It sure was great to get home after a long drive sometimes. So it was time to say goodbye to my last ever TVR. I know four other previous TVR owners that have moved 'Up' to an Aston Vantage. And are totally smitten with the marque
You can view our ex Tuscan for sale at str8six TVR dealers web site in Oxford. (I'm not connected to them in any way) Worth a look !

Welcome to Aston Martin ownership Dave from another ex TVR man, on my second Vantage since leaving the Travel Very Rapidly bunch.
I don't think you will be upset with your choice of replacement I certainly haven't been.
Friday will seem forever coming but it will be worth the wait.
Do I recall you used to be Valhalla on here?
Yes Valhalla. Thanks for the lovely welcome. I had trouble sighing in for some reason.Never mind I'm here now. So much to ask,so much to learn eh. Where do you know me from,or was it just on PH?
Love to see a picture of your Aston.

Hi Dave
From PH mainly but met you a couple of times at TVRCC Essex meets, a lovely yellow T350 comes to mind and then I seem to remember a complete opposite in a canal boat.

Hopefully the below will attach to my thread from when I changed the coupe for the roadster which has a couple of pics.

I bet time seems to have stopped with all your waiting for Friday
Just heard the car is ready to collect on Friday. As the wife says.........."Only two more sleeps". That's a total of about 6 hours then!
I'll check out the link to your pics now and report back. Yes we enjoyed The Midas Gold T350c for 4 years. Lived totally on the narrow boat for three years.Back to the human race with the boat money burning a hole in my pocket, and bought the Tuscan. Funny thing we never really grew to love it like the T350c. You could not relax for a second. I think that's the way for most TVR's. Nothing wrong with that. but I'm not getting any younger, neither is Diane. Hopefully we will see you around,as we intend to partake in a few events. Are you a member of the Aston owners club. And is it worth it?
Dave.

Wow!! I'm overwhelmed by all your kind welcome messages. Buying this car is a life long dream for Diane and I. Never did I ever think I would buy an Aston Martin.Yes a Blinking ASTON MARTIN !!! This time on Friday night it will be sitting in my garage on the newly painted floor, under its new cover.
Washed before hand of course. We have had five TVR's over the last fifteen years. Believe me if you have not driven a TVR,then you have missed out. The raw power of those cars is indescribable unless you have driven one. We have owned four, and loved every minute of it. I was in my late forties when we bought the first one. And quite frankly it scared the wottsits out of me when we went for a test drive.
Both our sons are doing all right, so they don't need the money. They wished us well when we told them what we might be buying. Go for it Dad they said.
You have both earned it. So here we go then. Our dream come true.Cant wait until Friday morning 11 AM. Wish us good luck.
Dave and Diane xx

Come on Dave over 11 hours since your planned pick up without an update or are you still driving?
Well we are home now.Been driving around showing the family. In a word...awsome !!!
Had the windows down through the two tunnels on the M25. Fuse 22 had already been removed. The sound was amazing. Had one hickup at the petrol station.I had forgot to ask how the fuel flap was opened. Had to drive out again to phone the seller to find out. When I got back a lady came over from her car and said that the car was absolutly gorgeous, and that the amount on the petrol pump looked like it hurts, but it must be worth it.
It was because as I was getting in after paying a guy shouted our "bloody nice car pal".
So I hit the slip road onto the M25 and floored it. I can't reveal how fast it went on here for obvious reasons. But she was howling like a banshee. I will add lots of pictures tomorrow. Thanks for all you interest and encouragement guy. We are gonna love this car. I'm not even going to ask about service costs yet.

Would be great if you took some pics of the rear of the car Dave, I'm considering changing the lights to the clear from red and our cars are the same colour and age. Just finding it hard to decide which I prefer.

Pics on the way later on. It's peeing down Here. But I can take a picture of the lovely rear end whilst it in the garage. I'm not getting it wet (yet).

Looking very shiny there Dave.
There is a meet just outside Bishops Stortford tomorrow that I know some of the TVR crew are going to, would be good to see your beast there and to catch up if you have the time. Don't know what they tend to get there but the pic on their web page, link below, shows some E Types.

Sorry can't go. Of to Harwich for a day at sea on the paddle steamer Waverly. Pair of clear rear lights on eBay for about 800 quid. Phew sounds a bit steep.

If not I am sure I will get to see you and the Vantage at an event soon.

Congratulations on your new car and welcome to the Aston section of P'Heads from another TVR owner (note; not ex-owner) wink I decided to go the other way and keep my Griff to get my V8 fix and opted to go into the world of classic Aston Martins. Best of both worlds. I've had the MkIII for 7 years now and met some great friends through the AMOC. Funnily people seem to think P'Heads is for owners of new Astons but most of the tours I've been on have had a large number of DB9s, V8Vs and V12Vs etc. But I guess it's like the TVRCC depends on how active/friendly your area is and what you want out of a club. Nice car by the way smile
If the AMOC is as friendly as the TVRCC. It will be great.
Thanks for you comment on the car

Allan.good luck with the search. I've had my vantage for a week now. Been out for the first long drive today.
In a word or three....Fan bloody tactic. Nice comments where ever we stopped. Now a few words of my search. I viewed two before buying the car. First one was a light blue vantage. From my long search its the only one that colour. Don't go there it was not a good one. The other one was a white and 'wrapped'. Don't go there either. For obvious reasons I can't tell you where they are. And they have both been up for sale three weeks now.
I bought mine from Boss motors of kings Langley. Not to be confused with a company in Norfolk/Ipswich.
They have a silver vantage that appeared there when I collected mine. Run by father Steve, and son Matt. Two great guys that made the buying experience so good. Diane and I were made to feel very special right up until we drove out of their gates of their home based business. Might be worth a look eh. Tell them that Dave and Diane Smith recommended them.
Dave.

Hi.As I've only had mine a week,I'm probably not a lot of help.
the car is so different from the Tuscan. I will never knock TVR's
But the build quality of the Aston is quite a bit different.
I'll say no more;).
I've a couple of niggles to sort. The carpet in the boot is falling off.should be an easy fix,as an ex boat upholsterer.
check the stiffness of the wing mirrors. As the passenger side one on mine is a bit loose, and moves a bit at speed.I'm not sure how to fix this.If anyone knows will they let me know please. If anything else happens I will let you know.
Dave.
