Ultra Regular Oil Change - Worth it?

I was wondering, with many retail garages offering oil change services for under £100, is this worth doing every few thousand miles, just to keep the oil fresh between proper services? Is there any benefit in this, i.e. increase engine life.

I realise many won't trust their loved one with a retail mechanic, but an oil change is so basic, I'm not concerned. I'd do it myself, but if I can pay someone under £100 to do it including an AM filter and the recommended oil, it hardly seems worth it.

I guess it's an old mindset then that the more often you change it the longer your engine will last.
