DBS Carbon Ceramic Matrix disks
Discussion
Hi,
I have an issue with the front set of CCM disks on my 2009 DBS, in that there is significant feedback through the steering wheel when braking from high speed, and the AM dealer has told me that this is because they have had a set of pads fitted, but they haven't been bedded in correctly. They also squeal like a banshee when braking at very slow speeds, and they have also attributed this to the same issue.
If you look at the disks, you can see a portion that is worn more than the rest (about 70/30 split I guess) so in essence there is a ring that is shinier covering about 30% of the disk. (it isn't a noticeable ridge, just a change in the surface shine) If you compare this to the back set, the back set is evenly worn/shiny.
I've been told by the AM dealer that they will need to change the front set of disks and pads, at a cost of nearly £7k, so my question is, can anything else be done, prior to having them changed? Could they be milled to even out the wear, or would changing the pads and bedding them in properly this time help?
I will get them replaced if this is the only option, but thought it was worth asking before I did so.
Thanks in advance,
Scott.

Hi Scott.
Plenty recently posted about CCM issues
Maybe look here:

I suggest you ignore the bhing and look just at the facts and examples of disc degradation that have been posted.
Just had my DBS fronts replaced by Works under warranty fortunately but would have taken it to Bamford Rose to get them done if I had to pick up the bill. May be worth you posting up a picture on the BR thread or email Mike so he can see what condition they are in and advise you suitably. I am aware of a car that has recently had a set of pads fitted and bedded in just as a stop gap measure and to 'finish off' the discs.
eta Just see you seem to be in the UAE even though your profile gives London as a location. Don't think BR have a branch there yet !!

Significant noise on the forum about CCM issues at the moment and has been a concern for many. How long have you had the car? Any comeback on the dealer?
There is an independent on here that will do it cheaper than £7K, so that would save you money if you went down that route. Sadly the CCM's seem to be a ticking time bomb, either trackday use or chemicals have been used to clean them, either way they do not have the life expectancy we were all led to believe.

Before running off and paying ridiculous money to fix the problem, have a read of this service bulletin to see if it is descriptive of your issue. If it is, try the procedure yourself before doing anything else.I have an issue with the front set of CCM disks on my 2009 DBS, in that there is significant feedback through the steering wheel when braking from high speed, and the AM dealer has told me that this is because they have had a set of pads fitted, but they haven't been bedded in correctly. Then open "Links (Inactive)" menu tab and the pad bedding process link is on that page.

you cant really tell if the discs are fked just by looking at them....in real terms they need to be removed and weighed....but am sure someone will be along to say otherwise.....
When the surface of your CCM's resembles sand paper and you go through a set of pads in 1000 miles they are well and truly fked. I assure you Scottsanders said:
@DB9VolanteDriver - the link that you posted just goes to the Jaguar Club login page - could you possible post the content in this link?
Thanks,
Scott.
Forgot about that.Thanks,
Scott.
Use this link, then click on the 'Links (Inactive)' menu tab. You should then be able to open the link on that page for the pad bedding process. There are also links to some AMOC photos you may want to peruse.
