Hi guys not sure if anyone has ever encountered this but I have a noisy db9 oil pump , it's an 06 with low miles and I can hear a screeching sound when pulling away and a buzzing/whiring sound when at idle, I've changed the oil for new and it's slightly improved but still there, it's defiantly the oil pump (I've checked and double checked). Please if anyone has experienced this and has any ideas I would be interested, I noticed quite a few air bubbles in the oil when I drained it so it's possible that air is getting in the oil? It's worth mentionng that I have my undertray and wheel arch liners removed at the moment so perhaps because there missing it's making the sound more noticeable but trust me it's quite bad sounds just like a screeching fan belt when I pull away, such a shame as the v12 sounds awesome at all other timesfrown any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi thanks for the reply, no it's definatly not related to any of the belts or pulleys (I removed the belt completely but it still does it) it sounds more like the pick up pipe of the pump that I can hear, if you start the car in the morning it's as good as gold but as soon as it warms up the buzzing starts, it sounds just like the oil has air in it if that makes any sence, almost as if once it's warmed up and pump the oil round for a few mins the oil has become full of air causing the pump to buzz, the car drives and runs perfect. Not sure if the v12 has the same pulley behind the crank but all I see in my car is one crank pulley and I believe the pump to be well inside the engine after you remove the front cover etc. I did put new oil in and noticed a slight improvement which also points to the oil pump. I spoke to BR and he said it's pretty normal and some are worse than other (something about oil cavitation) just thought I'd see if any other v12 owners have it, like I said sounds just like a slipping belt when you pull away and buzzes at idle it's only prescent from about 1000rmp too 15000rmp after which it vanishes ??? It's my first aston so I'm kind of twitchy

Hi Bamford Mike

That does sound like very informative advise and thanks for taking the time to post it for me, i notice you mentioned that the cars which have it to a lesser extent can only be heard when on a ramp and that makes me wonder if once I get my undertray and wheel arch liners put back on the noise may less noticeable (I bought the car with them missing it's a long story), you also mention that on volante models it can be worse and I wonder if that is because there undertray is a lot smaller and covers less of the underside (from what I can see) or perhaps your simply referring to the fact that when the roof is down the volante drivers are more likely to hear it? Again thanks for all your help
