Twas the week before Christmas and AM Works were having an event celebrating 60 years of Aston Martin in Newport Pagnell.

Whilst enjoying my Nth glass of champage, that scallywag Simon Stanton happened to say "Drop in for a coffee when you are free, I have a car for you". In I went and to cut a long story short after a test drive and a good look round the car I traded in my V8 Vantage SP10 and bought a car that, IMHO, I have always thought was the most gobsmackingly gorgeous Gaydon era Aston Martin...the DBS. It's a January 2012 car in Quantam Silver, 6-Speed Touchtronic 2 Auto and I can't wait to pick it up between Christmas and the New Year. So pictures to follow.

Obviously AM Works will ensure the car has the "140" point check, but can I ask the DBS owners on the forum is there any common issues/niggles/faults I should be checking for prior to hand over? The ceramic discs feel like glass so a tick in that box!

Cheers,

Frankie

Thanks gentlemen. Anti wrinkle cream ordered...fanny will hopefully be along soon!!

I was surprised at how easy it was to drive in auto. But hit the sports button and two down shifts on the paddle and it turns into a beast...amazing.

Pics will be uploaded in hand over.

Well the part exchange deed was completed today. Said goodbye to the SP10 and welcomed the DBS into ownership. Not had a chance to go for a good drive yet and the pics are only from pick up earlier this afternoon. IMHO the DBS in Quantam Silver is the business. A January 2012 car with 10K miles and auto. The car was bought with the heart but brain cells think the decision to change in terms of future value/depreciation was just as valid.

Apologies if pics are not right way round as uploaded from iPhone. Also number plate is not mine and being changed!

Thanks gentlemen for the comments. I hope they're not becoming too common Tony!!

John, I'll let you know how I get on with the change soon. Missing two small things from the SP10 already...boot space for golf trolley and DAB. I reckon I can live without them though!!!!!

£300 for DAB and take up Croquet.
I'd go for the DAB and go back to carrying the clubs! How/where can I get DAB?

Well into ownership of the DBS now. Had a chance to drive it quite a bit and one thing is disappointing me. That's the engine roar. It actually sounds like a very angry bee rather than a deep V12 roar I was expecting. In fact I'd go so far to say my SP10 V8 sounded better!!
Is this normal? Do other DBS owners feel their's sound any different?

I'd say a decat is required. Talk to Nick, Lotto, or Tony Hall, they've all had it done. They'll give you a feel for the noise, but it'll never sound like a V8!!
Thanks Binz, you're the man when it comes to loud!;)
