Well Ladies and Gentlemen,

There comes a time when ownership must come to an end and I've reached that point. I have had an almost indescribably good time with my Vantage, a car which I still adore but simply do not have time to use. For anyone contemplating ownership., there is only one thing to say......your life will be forever touched by the brand.

Moreover, I'd like to thank the forum and in particular a certain group of friends that have become very close over the years, and I'd like to think that friendship will continue regardless.

Keep up the banter, try to avoid the public humiliation but most of all drive safe and well.

Sorry to hear that you are leaving.

It is remarkable how a collection of metals, composites, leather and rubber, put together into a powerful beautiful shape, can have such an effect on us.

At least you have been able to experience the passion and enjoyment, and you clearly like your cars to be driven as much as possible. Perhaps you will return to Aston Martin one day.

Good luck. Now I just have to find a set of your Sports Pack wheels.
Jon, tried to PM, but not permitted. PM me please.

Mark, if you want to suggest a wheel swap, then thank you, but I am intending to buy a new set and then keep my 20 spoke originals.
Understood Jon. I'm putting mine back to the original wheels and am planning to move the SportPack wheels on separately.

All the best Bins... I bet it's like splitting up from your first real girlfriend ?
I'd imagine so, but I've never really experienced that......I married my first girlfriend and we're still together 25 years later. Gutted I'm not sleeping with Jeff anymore though, I used to enjoy feeding him biscuits.....

Bob, thank you, and sorry for tainting your Sunday. You're one of the forums 'givers', keep up the sterling work, and get back into the air soon.

Mark I can't believe you are parting with your beloved car. What are you getting next? Hope you are not leaving the forum too.
Hi Darren, yep it's a sad day but the stark reality is that the car is nothing more than an ornament which costs me £2k a year without even getting out of the garage. My job, as you know, keeps me away from home during the week. Were I based closer, then the option to take the Aston in every now and then would keep the car in use. Sadly, it's not going to happen given my choice of aircraft and likely basing. Couple that with having to compromise my DD to keep costs down, it's just not worth it. It is, without doubt, the most beautiful and enjoyable car I've ever, and will ever, own, but it's so under-utilised that the decision is made. I'm upset, to say the least and every petrolhead fibre of my being wants me to keep it, but financially, it makes absolutely no sense. Unless the lottery comes in, then I can't see me getting back into the brand, my time may well have passed.

As for what's next, a comfortable, well appointed, reasonably quick Germanic diesel I suspect. Probably an A4/A6 Avant. It will never replace 'Buck', no way, but having spent the last few years commuting to Cornwall and North Wales from the Midlands in a decade old diesel Golf and now an underpowered Focus, I've had enough.

As for the forum, I'm sure I'll browse. I'm sure it'll still make me laugh. All the very best chum, fly safe.

All the best, Bins - it has been great having you along for the ride yes

You will miss it......trust me on that wink
Thanks Phil, I'll pop along as a pax on the odd run out with Nick if he'll have me, be good to stay in touch. I'm under no illusion that I'll miss the damn thing terribly, but needs, sadly, must.

Thanks chaps. Steve, you're spot on, I'm actually missing it already, and it's yet to leave the garage.

Shame you're leaving the fold Bins! Theres been many a jolly conversation on here and good banter, never did get to meet you though. I know my day will come as I seldom use my car 6,000 miles, 2,000 last year, 200 so far this year...... but I'm not letting go just yet and don't think I'll ever want to smile
Dave, I'm sure I'll make a D&D and drink myself into oblivion with you at some stage in the future. Look forward to it. Do try to resist the thought of losing the Aston, it's surprisingly painful.
